Now, the live-action remake of Disney's Pinocchio, was frowned upon by many critics, fans of the original, and those who just plain dislike Disney's remakes of their cartoons, but I still think this is one of the better remakes, yet even I still find it to have flaws that could have made people enjoy it more.

Here are some five changes I would have had in it rather than the final product.

1. Have the runtime be longer than having the runtime be about the same as the original 1940 version, and give a little more depth to the story while keeping some of the original's lightheartedness. The 2015 Cinderella was longer than the original version and had a little more depth to it, and Burton's Dumbo was also longer than the original. So I kind of feel that this had a little more to it.

2. Get rid of the 'road apples' bit. I know humor is hard, but they really could have not shown horse feces in the middle of the road with Pinoke's actual apple getting dropped near them. Who wants to see fecal matter in a classic fairy tale adaptation? It was very brief, but still unnecessary.

3. Keep in the smoking and alcohol abuse. Think about it, it would fit well with teaching kids that drugs and alcohol are bad rather than downgrading it to root beer. Drinking root beer is harmless. Sure, the child actors could drink root beer, but the scripts could say it's alcohol, and smoke could be added in via special effects. Companies should be as bold as they were back then.

4. Include Foulfellow and Gideon in more scenes. Yes, it seems like they weren't needed for the story after selling Pinoke to Stromboli, but I like the fox and cat con artist duo and before the remake came, I wanted a redo that involved them redeeming their ways, similar to how Scalawag and Igor, their replacements, had a redemption arc in the Filmation take, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night. Julayla-64 featured the two returning in her crossover version and they redeemed along with the raccoon and monkey, and even joined Pinocchio and his group to journey to Toomerica in her Nack and Psycho verse fanmake of An American Tail.

Honestly, they deserve a chance to redeem FAR MORE than Maleficent.

and last but not least,

5. Show what happened to the Comeuppance after Pinocchio and Jiminy escape Pleasure Island. So many who hated this despicable kidnapper in the original animated version wanted to see him get his just desserts, and they were once again, denied the chance. The writers showed Stromboli's defeat, with his young assistant taking over his business and having him arrested, but the Coachman is worse for turning all the kids (who are both boys and girls, btw) into donkeys and selling them to salt mines.

That's how I would have changed it anyway.
