I FINALLY FINISHED IT HAHAHAHA YAAAAAY.I am NEVER doing this style again. It takes WAY too long. @_e Sure, it looks like awesomesauce, but TOO TEDIOUS. And ambiguous light sources FTW. <<; I kind of wanted Werehog to be backlit, but the light ended up being mainly behind and to the right. It still looks cool, so I'm happy.
Anyway, as you can see, it's the Werehog (sans wereshoes... I don't think I'll EVER draw those) from Sonic Unleashed in a certain pose any Sonic fan should be familiar with. That's right, the pose you see on the disk cover to the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure. I used this pose (no tracing involved!) for several reasons.
1. It's my favorite official art of Sonic.
2. It just looks cool.
3. This is called Perversion for a reason.
It's funny. I used to have a great dislike for the Werehog. I wouldn't say hate outright, since even when he was first leaked, I was still intrigued by him.
So why is there this awesome fanart of him? Personally, I blame my love for werewolves and other werebeasts. The whole hideous transformation and degeneration of the mind into a savage, wild beast that would kill even loved ones is a scene I often enjoy to imagine, or watch in a movie. The whole mental scope of this type of phenomenon... I really geek out on. It's really no surprise then that, given time and a few gameplay videos, I started liking The Fuzzy One. The video with Endless Possibilities playing in it just made my love for him concrete. After I saw that video, I was compelled to make fanart of him. So here we are. :B
And to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed to learn that he's still mostly Sonic, mentally. My friends and I had joyous times thinking that the Werehog was only semi-intelligent at the most. Because torturing characters through Werehog maulage is really fun.
Neeways, about the background, I chose all of that purpley-swirly vortex stuff because of all of those purple monsters running about in the game. Plus, purple is a dark, nighttime color, and it goes great with the lighting I have.
... I think that's it.
I can't wait to get that game~ Christmas needs to come sooner. D:

Ahh, yes. The reason I too didn't hate 'fuzzy-hog' was because I love creatures of folklore.
Mostly vampires and werewolves.
There's something dark about them, that pulls you in.
And... I actually prefer the werehoggie levels to 'speed'. He looked like a lumbering beast, fast enough, and I love old fashioned 'beat 'em up', games.
-
I too mourn he wasn't more violent. That'd be funny... so you'll see why my art is a bit more 'mature' in the area of Werehogs... bloody, and more doggy-like.
Also love your art, very nice take on the ol' Sonic pic.
He does seem a bit leery
His eyes an grin are just freak-y.
And yes, purple is the colour of psychic and all things evil. >8)
MMMmmmmm... eval!^^
... I also fail at 'Sonic style'.
Great job!^^ (Sorry for my blathering, lol)

Hee, thank you! X3
And I'm not sure whether I prefer the Nighttime or Daytime stages myself. They're both done so well that I can't really decide which one I like better. XD

Most welcome!^^
The speed isn't as good on Wii (BOO!)
Yeah, but it's a pain when Sonic speeds and flattens into a wall (Although comical). XD
And I actually finished almost all the medals/lvls, think I had more trouble with Speed levels than werehog bash.
The were-stages have nicer music I think, darker tones.
I think my dark-side is talking here XDDDD.

Wow. Incredible background and shading here.
This is a great way to remind us of Sonic Adventure. Speaking of which, there's one reference to the game in Sonic Unleashed. This is the second time that the Emeralds are drained. The first time is in SA1!
