The character design is strong with this one. This chap looks like serious business! I think the orange helps him to stand out from the rest of the gang as a man among mice. He seems like the bold no nonsense type with a loyal commitment towards his duty. He reminds me of Doctore Oenomaus: "A fictional character based on the myths from Spartacus." A man who is indebted to his masters commands and stands loyal, even if he doesn't agree on the terms.

Don't get me wrong. I like the grey color and it suites him if you're aim for a character who works behind the curtains, like Fidget. It cloaks his presence and makes him look more calculating, in my eyes.Β
Thank you, for a wonderful character. Keep up the good work

He is very much - he used to be a man of grand political ideals, and used to be crazy committed to his party back in Ireland, but has ever since lost his faith, and thus turned into a cynic.
He, now, just works as muscle and does what he's being told without any questions. So yeah, the no-nonsense type indeed.
Thank you so much for these lovely words and for the constructive comments. It means SO much!
I think I'm settling for the orange fur, but nothing is set in stone yet.

HOLD DA OP!!! (OH MY GAWD!!) You are more than welcome.Β Β I have just read your wonderful message. I'm happy to hear that you appreciate my comment. The character Β seemed to be too appealing to ignore
Β
Hold Your Horses!! You didn't even need my comment to begin with. You have already pulled a good background check on your character, laddie
Follow your own vision. I'm sure that either color will suit the character as long as it feels natural for you.
Forgive me for my terrible grammar-mistakes. I haven't wrote in English, for a while, so it's a little rusty Β

I like both: for the outfit he's wearing, the gray goes great with it, but that bright orange stands out better.Β Mmm.Β Bright orange. It stands out better.

Indeed - but with his career choice grey might work better in the dark... On the other hand... ORANGE!
I *think* I'll eventually end up with orange... it's just so darn colourful and happy, and does not fit his not-so-bright personality

Yesnoshroom In reply to TopHatTurtle [2014-03-28 14:50:40 +0000 UTC]
I will admit, Grey is better for for his profession.Β And it does still look great with that color scheme he's wearing. But....orange! So bright. So beautiful. But then again, his eyes are kinda bright and in the dark, that grey could make that look creepy...but...ORANGE. I can't choose anymore!!

Yeah, orange indeed!
I will admit, his blue eyes will stand out all the more with the grey fur...
But yeah...
ORANGE!
I am more partial to orange, I'll have to admit, so yeah - eventually I'll probably settle with that.

Brinatello [2014-03-25 09:10:05 +0000 UTC]
I'm actually liking the orange on him, but not because of just a simple color preference. The name Samson also means 'sun' and so it would be more fitting to have him be a bright color like orange.
π: 0 β©: 1
TopHatTurtle In reply to Brinatello [2014-03-25 10:25:42 +0000 UTC]
It might mean sun Nothing's for sure in that part. But yes, it's a good point, albeit not my reasoning for naming him Samson
π: 0 β©: 1
Brinatello In reply to TopHatTurtle [2014-03-25 20:53:36 +0000 UTC]
It does mean sun, I looked up the name's meaning. Ask.com:
The name Samson is a Biblical name. The traditionally boy name means 'the sun', and was derived from the Hebrew boy name Shimshon, which has the same meaning. This name also has origins in English and Hebrew cultures.
Unless it's wrong or I'm wrong, who knows, then?

TopHatTurtle In reply to Brinatello [2014-03-26 09:02:23 +0000 UTC]
First of all, I'd ALWAYS be a bit critical towards anything written on ask.com and wikipedia Just, pure precaution.
But yeah, it probably does mean that, but when it comes to interpretation of names, there is always room for doubt.
That said, it is still an excellent point, and one I'll bear in mind.

Brinatello In reply to TopHatTurtle [2014-03-26 12:06:27 +0000 UTC]
No, I know. That's why I did it as a Google search. Ask.com was one of the top places, as was thinkbabynames.com, abarim-productions.com, and biblestudytools.com. Could still have doubts on it.
Okee!

I think I am partial to the orange version too; It'll give me the opportunity to play around with brighter colours (as opposed to my other ocs who are very subdued in colour.)
Especially because his clothes ARE going to be darker in colour, texture and tones

Hey, so I was thinking. would it be okay for you, if I drew Birdie into one of my Basil/Samson sketches?
I just like to mix ocs and canons, and Birdie is always a blast to draw.

Yaraffinity In reply to TopHatTurtle [2014-03-25 11:18:12 +0000 UTC]
Weasels are the shit. So are ferrets. AND OTTERS.
Oh my~~
So whenever you suggest to draw Birdie, my heart always makes three saltos and then I fall of my chair and need to readjust my breathing for 5 minutes.
I don't mind! Just use her whenever you like!
I'm always to honoured... you plaster a smile on my face for DAYS.
And in my case, that's a whole lot, since I have moodswings all the time.
The fact that Birdie is loved by people... I never imagined this when I joined the fandom and I still feel super awkward under it.
Like I think, that people are suddenly going to realise she's not that special and gonna drop her out.
I'm so paranoid omfg.
BUT
Draw Birdie whenever you feel like, however you feel like! Just don't make it too precious and cause a heart attack on me or something
That and I'd really really really love to see Birdie interact with squirrels.

Otters are ADORABLE, if only because they hold hands when they sleep, as to not float away from each other. Just... damn cute!
And I'm gonna cause damn heartattacks, if I wanna in fact, it'll be like the biggest approval of art, if I can cause even the slightest heart-burn!
And hooray, I've had this idea for a while, so now I'll just have to find the time to draw it
And yeah, you ARE a paranoid mofo, but hopefully you'll come by it Birdie IS adorable, and the fact that she's this grounded yet colourful persona, just adds so much dimension to her, making it IMPOSSIBLE not to love her.

Yeah totes dudette. as long as you can handle it and it doesn't destroy your life, it's just one of those things we'll have to learn and deal with Tons of people have demons, and instead of trying to get rid of them, it'll often be more useful to try and work with them, rather than against them
π: 0 β©: 1
Yaraffinity In reply to TopHatTurtle [2014-03-25 13:35:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, we all have our "flaws", even though they shouldn't be considered flaws unless they really block you from living your life in a way.
Sometimes I get blocked and flustered, but I always try to work with it! I'm well aware of the things that restrain me, so I'm already proud that I know what they are and that I work something out.
You're really kind, the way you accept other people the way they are!
Not many people hold that quality anymore <3
π: 0 β©: 1
TopHatTurtle In reply to Yaraffinity [2014-03-26 09:07:52 +0000 UTC]
The fact that you're trying to work with it, instead of against it is a HUGE positive trait, seriously.
It's all about awareness and knowing what is going on inside ones head, and that can, of course, be so incredibly tricky, but I am so happy to hear that you are capable of working it out.
And nah, I've travelled a lot and seen all sorts of people with all sorts of issues. I come from a slightly askew family, so we've learned to deal with issues as maturely as possible. People need to be able to see outside of trivial issues and accept and help each others
