Well, as a smoker (part-time now only) smoke does not bother me in the least. But I understand why it can be an annoyance for other people.

It's interesting I have a good friend who was a smoker, but because she was so discreet about it, I barely smelled it on her. I'd sit with her and she'd literally be puffing away. I never smelled it anywhere on her.

That is pretty cool. Well, if you're careful about smoking the smell CAN be avoided. When I *do* smoke, I make sure it's outside, and luckily I don't smell much myself. - you know, bad breath, the smell of smoke in the hair etc.
I like to smoke, but I also want to avoid smelling like an ash-tray

In fairness, there WERE a lot of people against it. King James even wrote about the evils of smoking, which is some pretty prominent opposition, but nobody really seemed to be listening.
