Thank you! Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to work on it so I think I took alphonse's pose directly from his official concept art so I definitely don't deserve all the credit.

We sold it at Rose City comic con (it actually sold out twice so that was cool), and we're going to Newcon PDX, Emerald City Comic conΒ (maybe. we got invited but they still put us on the waitlist??), Wizard World PDX, Miyako con, and Anime PDX. We're trying to add on more convention as the years pass, but Oregon just doesn't have any and we don't make quite enough yet to fly out to cons. BTW, "we" is me and my tablemate Tayler.

Maybe someday we can fly out to jersey. Ony been there once and it was on accident haha. I'd love to eventually work up a group of people whose places I could stay at for cons in other states. I think it'd be fun!

Yeah, Ive never cosplayed before because people tell me I cant cause I'm black. Which is hilarious, because 99.9 percent of anime characters are asian and like 90% of cosplayers are white so yeah. Its stupid. I don't want to believe it, but I also wouldn't feel right cosplaying anyone not my kin tone. I don't know. it's all dumb.Β

Pretty much. That makes me so angry. Wow they do that?? That's not very nice. I'm fortunate that people have been kind but I'm still afraid. Black anime characters are so rare and most are awful stereotypes..it's really sad.

I feel like people don't understand how much asian people don't like black people. They really just don't and that's the beginning, middle and end of it. It's just really easy to ignore I suppose if you're not dark skinned. I mean, they even don't like dark skinned asian people :/ I recently found out I'm part Ainu and the Japanese really hate the Ainu even though they've been in japan jut as long as them?? It's so weird to me. I'm jusst ranting at this point :b

Wow I didn't know that. Well, I knew some hated black people but I didn't think they all did. I guess I can add that to the reasons I hate being black. That's really sad. Is there a reason why they hate people who are Ainu? No you aren't rambling at all. I enjoy talking to you.

Well, I'm not going to say they ALL do. There's no way for me or anyone else to know that, but there are a few big signs that a lot of people feel that way. For instance, the practice of ganguro (blackface) is still heavily present among japanese women which is, by nature, very racist. Most "black girls" you see in anime are actually supposed to be japanese girls dressed in ganguro. It's often characterized by dark skin, blonde hair and pink lipstick. And again, any portrayal of black people in their media is only violent and agressive men and women who don't end up with any love interests who's only goal is either killing or just being number 1. It's fits right into a lot of major black stereotypes that are very hurtful. Lastly, in 2014 (I think) Miss Japan was a half black, half japanese woman who received a lot of hate from her own country for not being "japanese enough," despite being born there. People were surprisingly upset about it. Oh, also, they don't sell any beauty products for curly hair there as I was told by my aunt who's visited there as well as two of my Japanese teachers in college. Which is . . . Honestly super racist to me.Β Β

Sorry I just meant I didn't know so many Asian people didn't like black people. I heard about the beauty pageant girl, but I didn't know about the blackface(aside from Anime). This does remind me of something though. I saw a YouTube video about being black in Japan. It was very interesting. I guess I should not be surprised. As I've been growing up I have noticed the world has a negative view of black people.

Yeah, I've been noticing that also :/ I used to be really really angry about being black and tried to whitewash myself, but I met my brother for the first time a couple years ago and I've learned a lot from him and I'm not ashamed to be black anymore and i'm trying to immerse myself in the culture. Doesn't mean i'm not terrified to be black in America though. It doesn't help that both my parents are white, voted for donald trump and think slavery ended 400 years ago ://

Yeah it's scary, huh? I am already afraid of leaving my house or in my current case, my dorm, and knowing I can be targeted for my race terrifies me. Oh wow that's so nice that you met your brother! Yeah, it's getting pretty bad. I always make sure I leave the house with a friend and don't stay out past dark. It's definitely a hard thing to accept, but I think I just figured . . . It's not worth being sad and hating myself so I just got over it. I also started following a ton of black people on tumblr and look at a lot of great black art and black selfies all the time so I'm surrounded by positive black beauty and I honestly think that's helped a lot. There's a really good black community on tumblr. I love it. Maybe that could help you as well
