Description
Final piece for design and composition class.
I really could have done more with it, and there are so many anatomy aspects that are bothering me, but that’s my fault for leaving it for the last minute.

I've never seen "The Grey," but this image immediately reminded me of hunting The Den Mother and her brood on Darkmoon Island in World of Warcraft. From your comment about its origins, I'm guessing you were not inspired by that game?

You know, something like this happened to me in Skyrim, except the white world was a white bear and I was running away like I was on fire, not standing there all calm and composed like... but other than that, excactly the same.

It might be annoying but you have to take it. Intentional or not, you're reminding people about a scene in a movie they probably liked. People relate to things they can understand.
Plus people probably are not looking to see if 'every other comment' is about that scene so they're not worried about being repetitive.
I like the piece and it does NOT remind me of that movie ^_^

Well. "What ever!" To the critics! It's a classic widerness survival/adventure scenario. And the "Great White Wolf Queen" just makes it all the more dramatic. I haven't seen The Grey yet and forgot all about it until you mentioned it. But, anyway this is a type of scene that has been done before by authors and artists from Jack London, to Lyn Bogue Hunt, to Frazzetta. You may not have ever heard of those people before but, I'm sure your stupid critics probably haven't either. Like I said it's a classic scenario. And could happen in real life too! Your critics might as well criticize someone for painting a surfer surfing just because thats been done before! Or, someone for painting Spiderman or, Superman because some new movie of them has come out! Like that hasn't been done before! When its done all the time! Some types of scene do get overdone and get tired but, others don't. Yours isn't done much anymore and is a fresh take on it. Your critics obviously have no appreciation for classic imagery. But, its good that you do.

Can't say i'm familiar with Hunt. But yeah man, it's not in any way a unique or creative take on this type of situation, and has been used countless times before. Just really a confrontation between man and beast, the end. God knows Frazzetta used the heck out of that type of thing.

I'm pretty new to digital art how were the trees and other things in the foreground made out of focus?

They were drawn on separate layers, then merged into one and blurred slightly out of focus with the gaussian blur option

Oh this is just beautiful. I love how it's portrayed and how the angle and vision appears. This gives me a few ideas for a roleplay. Such inspiration and feeling comes from this photo. I appreciate this piece as well as many others in my favorites. Keep up the amazing work!
