Description
Test design I did for an animation project.Rejected for being too "anime".
Notice: I got a permission to post this if I don't reveal anything about the project. Since my design direction is far away from the style they are going for... So, please do not ask/guess/post about what this project is about. I will not answer it and I wil hide those comments. If it goes out of control, I will take this post down. So please respect the rule stated in this description.

It's not like how they had evil intentions or anything like that. My guess is that they probably just wanted to see it in more of anime style just for their own evaluation.

A couple of things.
First: If the project is public, could you send me a link? I'd like to check it out.
Second: I really love the design for the char on the far right. Cute, deadly, and an android, and I was wondering if I could use her in a story I'm going to be writing. She'd be a "sibling" to my character (Most of my characters are going to be androids developed for combat, but one went insane and enslaved all but one and merged with the station they were situated in.).

NOw that I've seen the other art (the 'Announced' one) and the film proper, I have to say that your work is amazing. Love the gauntlet design especially, kinda reminds me of 'The Big O'.

It's absurd that the the animation project people would think this is too anime. Do they not like money? Anime is getting more and more popular and if an AMERICAN or CANADIAN made anime were to be made I think fans would sprout and cheer and then everyone would be happy.
They're making a big mistake turning your idea down. So, when you find someone who will accept your idea you can go back to these people and say "see what you missed out on?". Good Luck with your animation career. I look forward to seeing your works make it into animation.

FOOLS! anime is the pinnacle of storytelling in it's purest form! and there is a LOT of style out there mixing the western AND the eastern..

To be fair, "anime" is not what they wanted. I took my chances to see if they were willing to go this way once they see what it could look like.

Ideas have sparked in my own mind though and i wonder if it be possible (though a bit unlikely) for me to use these as reference for other (more unoriginal) characters? Just for practice? Im not very good... if you might see. :/

hmm, I get a 'Scryed' vibe when I look at it. Probably cause of the guy with the super arm and the ribbons on the girl's clothes remind me of Zetsuei.

modern anime is rehash of all the ideas that has been thrown around for last couple of decades anyway... I don't even think mine are that original.
