What I like about your photo is the soft, slightly glowing light and warm hues. Most people render "cemetery" pictures in black and white or sepia (which is very good of course!) but you did it in a bit different way

Thanks. I often render my cemetery photography in mono-, duo- or tritones, but the light as it came through the trees created this nice, warm glow and I didn't want to lose that. It was bittersweet, this quaint, quiet setting of graves of these young children that don't even have their parents nearby, alone in the woods.

What I think makes these graves particularly moving is their somewhat forgotten location in the forest of a state park. There are fewer than two dozen gravesites, and probably half are that of children (most with no parents or other relatives buried nearby). I did manage to trace the family gravesite of one child to another cemetery a few miles away. But I look at these and they just seem to me to be little lost children in so many ways.

It is very heartbreaking. Have you even seen the DVD called Children of the Grave? It's a documentary.

I have not seen that documentary, but I will definitely look into it. It sounds like something right up my son's alley - he is very interested in ghost hunting and photography, so I'm sure he'd be interested in this film as well. Thanks!
