It's one of my favourite places to "hang out." I see something new each time I go back. At this point I've done 14 shoots in this cemetery. I'm looking forward to going back when the weather cools a bit and the leaves start to change.

Oh, wow... fourteen? That's awesome! I wish someone would do that at my cemetery.... i've no talent for photography, though, unfortunately...

I'd love to see the results of your Autumn shoot.... I bet you'll get some really nice shots from that!

I am counting the days. It's a lovely day here today and I may venture out for a bit because there's a photo manipulation I have in mind and I need a cemetery cross framed "just so" to make it happen.

Photography - to me - is mostly about composing for the frame and seeing things other people miss. It takes some time to develop those skills. I always encourage people to go out and take TONS of photos. When you start doing that and you begin to sift through them you get a sense of what works and what doesn't. And spend some time looking at the work of other photographers. Not just folks here on dA (and there are many amazing photographers here). I always recommend looking at the work of early-to-mid 20th century photographers like Edward Steichen, W. Eugene Smith or Margaret Bourke-White. Some amazing stuff there.

I feel like you also have to have some natural talent, though. My sister is a photographer, and she takes some really incredible pictures. I could go out and take pictures of the exact same things, and they wouldn't be anywhere near as good as hers. And i'm the one with the artistic training!

I guess that's why i do the drawing and she takes the photographs!

That's true, and i think it's better that way. Life would be boring if we were all the same!
