That's the effect I was going for - as though she is reaching out to touch the viewer.

I've shot this particular statue a few times, but not until recently from this angle. I was quite pleased with how this perspective worked out. Much more dramatic this way, I think.

Ooh, scary. o.O

I really like how distinct she is from the background, as if the background and her were miles away... if that makes sense.

The framing is brilliant and the colours complement and contrast each other quite well, too. I think the lighting and the way it casts shadows works well with the atmosphere, mood and concept of this piece as well.

Thank you so much. I had actually posted another view of this statue previously, but it was shot on an overcast day, and the angle much different. This time around I imagined being someone looking up (as if from the grave) and this was the view. I was very pleased with how this worked out.

Oh man that's the best mix of beauty and creepiness I've ever seen, I'm sure it's better in person.

I'm guessing the statue was quite a thing of beauty when first erected. The weathering has given it quite a "creepy" look and the rose is interesting because it looks dead, yet seems to almost have flecks of red in it. It is an extraordinary statue.
