Description
I FINALLY finished this b@st*#d!! LOL I don't know if all badgers are this way (or if I'm that out of practice), but he was so knobby and tough that it took me forever to get the simplest edge on him. Rargh.Anywho's. The picture makes it look very brown, but I've painted it with an ebony wood stain. I actually plan to paint over that with a red mahogany to give it a reddish hue. Experimenting *shrug*
This guy will be for sale. He (or she) is an old individual so the teeth are worn/missing considerably, but I'll have better pictures up once it's finished.

So beautiful it hurts! I love this one so much, the color is gorgeous and the design stunning!
I never thought of painting with wood stain but that's a great idea! :3 Did you carve into the actual skull, I wasn't sure if this was carved out of wood or something like that since you mentioned missing teeth?
I've never carved a skull but it looks like it could be a fun project.

I first got into painting skulls when I was reading up on how to restore deer antlers. I thought, if you can paint antlers with wood stain, why not skulls too?
Yes, that's a real badger skull. I'm not talented enough to carve an actual skull out of nothing, heheh! Thanks for the lovely comment!

Excellent work, as usual. I'm looking forward to seeing the final.
Badgers have very dense skulls, though I gather that wolverines and hyenas have even denser ones.

Remind me not to do a wolverine or hyena, heh! I'm just glad the carving on this guy is over with. Whew.

That is kickass! Really like this kind of filigree style.

I love filigree! Next I have to try to learn celtic knotwork for my bear skull. It seems so much more demanding than filigree

Yesh, thorns!
I appreciate the help/indulgence. I seem to be so disorganized when it comes to art lately.
