Description Another oekaki done for a contest on [link] ^^ Basically, the stipulation was to draw a person/animal/whatever with curly hair.

Yes, ringlets and curls are basically the same thing. >.>

Anyway, not sure if the fullview makes an difference...*shrugs* A lot of the vibrancy of the reds was lost with compression, sadly, but there's not much to be done about that.

Enjoy!

Hehe, thanks!^^ *huggles* Yes, I love teh fall...favourite season of all, for me. Probably because of the whole wicca/harvest aspect...and the fact that ghost stories and such are the most fun during that time. ^^ Plus the colour palette's the most interesting. XD

Thank you ever so for the , too...*grins* As always, the support = both very appreciated and completely hug-inducing. *huggles you again*

you're quite welcome
i think it's neat when all the leaves are pretty much opposites of what they are in the summer, and they're allover the place
it's not so damn hot, also...damn sun

TownOfWolves In reply to g-magnetic [2005-08-16 03:22:13 +0000 UTC]

So true. -_-; I like when it's still somewhat warm, so that your fingers aren't freezing without gloves...but where you're not dying of heat, either. And the sun's still shining, but a more golden colour that hits all the leaves just right...XD

Damn sun indeed. Though...that could just be us pale, black-wearing artsy types, you know. >.>

Oh. Teh autumneyness. Autumn is my favorite season so...
The use of colours really captures me and it's just...so...seductive. Well...she looks seductive, but that's not what I mean about seductive. Anywho, this is great, please keep it up.

Autumn = with all the leaves falling down and the death aspect of season change. Oh. How morbid.
But Autumn is THE best season.

...Wow. You simply cease to amaze me, Jurei. Really. This piece is BEAUTIFUL. The colors of the pic in general are very vibrant, though not blinding, and they make the eyes stand out (in a good way). I'm really loving the shading done for the hair. From what I can see, you even drew in the other fingers on the hand, rather than just doing an index-and-thumb pincer/claw, and even the shadow of the hand (I think?), which are great for detail points. Great job with the leaves as well. They actually look like real leaves. ^_^

The only thing that seems "wrong" with the picture is some of the shading. The area underneath the thumb, for one. I can't tell if it's a shadow of her hand or just shading for... her chest. If that is indeed her hand's shadow, then I think it would be more toward her left (your right when looking at it), seeing as the source of light is somewhere on her right (your left). Also, I would think that part of her face with hair hanging in front of it would be a little bit darker than the other shading on her face (though maybe it is and I just can't tell?). *shrug* Maybe just me, though.

Other than those small details, it's an amazing picture. Keep up the great work.

Heh, thanks!^^ Good to see you on DA...I didn't know you had an account. *grins* I'll check it out as soon as I'm finished cleaning out the Devwatch and Message boxes. ^^

As for the lighting...definitely Keep in mind, though, that this is oekaki...basically, crappy-end doodle applet I use to jump-start the creativity. >.> So...spending more than two hours on it's really pushing it (my eyes actually still hurt ) So...I'll keep that in mind for next time (not much to be done for this image, though. )

really nice colouring, what software u use? can u do that in adobe 5.0? <_<;; cos thats what i use. i wanted to buy a new software but i dont know what >_<;; ufff so confusing

TownOfWolves In reply to blue-severence1873 [2005-08-11 18:09:22 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I used oekaki. ^^ It's an internet-based application (kinda low-end, actually...like MS Paint with more tools and colour palette/adjustemnt options)...like an art program and Message Board combined as one.

check it out at:

OekakiCentral (stricter, but more high-end) - [link]

Digital Yume (less uptight, but lower-end) - [link]

As for actual art programs...I like Adobe Photoshop (though I would go with 7.0: my favourite version thus far), or Painter 8. Depends what your price range is, really...both are higher-end programs, and as such, are a little pricey. I kinda (downloaded/pirated) mine, but that's not the best way to go...>.>

There's also ArtRage, and some other free image programs you can get off the internet...quite a few are actually pretty decent, and grossly underrated.

ArtRage: [link]

...there's a lot more info out there, of course...this is pretty brief. Hopefully, it's of some help to you.

TownOfWolves In reply to blue-severence1873 [2005-08-12 04:52:27 +0000 UTC]

...if you already own the thing, though, SOME Photoshop is better than none. 5.0 wasn't terrible, as far as art programs go, but 7.0 is just better. However...when I said pricey, I MEANT pricey. The last time I checked the tag on Photoshop 7.0, it read something like $999.99 O_o

Ridiculous, but obviously they're going to try and milk the most amount of money they can out of those willing to pay...>.>

J-Cleo [2005-08-11 05:03:47 +0000 UTC]

Mmm, the colors are color-ific. *being redundant* (It's kinda funny to me since it seems everyone I'm watching is doing some autumn-themed drawing. I think this might be the fourth one I've seen yet.)

I love the curls because, well, they look like curls. I can never get curls to look like that. The best I can do is wavy-ish... x_X

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TownOfWolves In reply to J-Cleo [2005-08-11 05:07:30 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, maybe we're all on some strange, similar broadcast-brainwave thingy. O_o I just did the autumn-ness because I was too lazy to draw flowers...and I thought that all green would look kinda redundant. So, funfun, mix it up a little by adding the vibrant colour palette of fall. [/waxpoetic] XD

But yeah, this is probably the first time these ringlet-curls have really worked for me. Usually, I do the wavy thing and try to make it work from there...which doesn't work. >.> So I guess this is the way to go...practice, practice, practice is the secret, I guess...^^
