Description My Other Renders

There was so much more planned for this piece, but after I got the head, neck, arm, and body done, everything else planned was just too difficult a feat to work with. Even the tail and feet killed me, seeing as the reference had those parts hidden. I hope you'll forgive the lack of detail and realism around those areas, I tried my hardest but I couldn't get them to look right without a good reference...

But anyway! MOST of it I'm proud of, like the neck wrinkles, the front leg and the entirety of the head. I worked about, say, nine hours on this? And overall, despite some of the mishaps, I'm happy with it. If viewers can just brush off those mistakes as well, then I'm even more happy with it.

Your thoughts?

WIP Animation

Do not, do not, do not, do not, DO NOT mention how it's missing limbs!
The reference didn't have them, and I hope that everyone knows that I am not a god-child. Without a good reference I cannot produce a good picture.
Yes, I know the tail and back leg in the reference were obscured and there was no front paw either, but without those then it would look even stranger and therefore I had to look up various other references to help me. But yet still there is a significant lack of detail in those parts. If I tried to add another two limbs there I'd probably end up absolutely destroying the picture. I am not going to sacrifice the work I've already done to add more limbs to a cat that looked perfectly fine the same exact way in the photo.
So please. Do not mention it. I already know.

anything! I love cats, and this race appears in the clip of Lady Gaga - bad romance. My mother said it was ugly, but I thought it was beautiful, in fact, God made it so.

Wonderful work. The cat looks very, very realistic. The detail you put in looks fantastic.
I think a background could maybe hide the fact that it is missing limbs.
But even without a background this is fantastic.

The softness of the skin came across very nicely, and the shading is great! (So many wrinkles! ) I think a backround of some sort would have been nice, but I know you put plenty of work into this as is.

Is it missing legs?

The reference didn't have another leg there :C

There also wasn't a front paw, and the tail and back leg were smothered in furry carpet in the reference... WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM MEEEEE? D'8>

this is brilliant, very realistic and draws a surprising amount of emotion for a picture of an animal. the wrinkles came out beautiful and you've made what could potentially be seen as very ugly really breathtaking and for that i applaud your efforts. great job!

Mmmh, I'd say you made the tail too thin, but apart from that...

Nice wrinkles! n_n

ToxicOxygen In reply to Vaelyane [2011-02-23 17:32:11 +0000 UTC]

I actually made the tail too thick D: According to the thickness of a Sphynx's tail in all of the references I've seen.

Vaelyane In reply to ToxicOxygen [2011-02-23 17:43:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah, my bad, I should've precised I was talking about the base of the tail only. >_< Oh stupidity, when will I get rid of you?
On the photo you linked, the base of the tail does actually look thinker. <.< Unless my eyes betray me. Puny organs.
I don't know sphynxes all that well, anyway. ^^'

ToxicOxygen In reply to Vaelyane [2011-02-23 18:14:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, that part is rather thick... I really don't know anything about cat anatomy. Especially when they have no fur. I suppose perhaps it's thicker their because of the rolls of skin. But I do notice some thickness problems I encountered around the part where it curls. But I worked so hard on it and there were so many layers I just said, "EFF IT I'm leaving it as is!"

Vaelyane In reply to ToxicOxygen [2011-02-23 18:56:31 +0000 UTC]

Imho, the fact that these have no fur makes it definitely harder, but also more gratifying in the end. So, kudos for having done it this well! n__n

Oooh anatomy, you shall drown our minds in utter insanity.
