Guess who saw Pixar's Inside Out and felt the urge to create an Artwork associated with it?As far as my Art is concerned, I could consider this either one of my Best (as evidenced by the concept) or Worst (as evidenced by the title ). At the risk of being dishonest, ummm, I have to be honest. The whole work itself is my doing, with the exception of the images within the memories (screencaptures). What can I say, considering how I would need to downsize the images for that part, I didn't have the confidence in myself to create the images without screwing up the scale. I'm not proud of myself for taking a shortcut like this, but at least it's minimal.
Now on to my memory choices;
Anger: Zaheer... No Brainer.
Sadness: Korra's PTS... again; No Brainer.
Now I have a bit of a confession to make. Originally for Disgust, I had Asami and Mako nuzzling penned as the memory (remember Korra's reaction ). But next to my Joy Memory, I got a bit paranoid that this Artwork would be misinterpreted as 'Anti-Mako' which is not what I want this Art to be, and not who I am in general. So I went with a different approach and chose Republic City's Journalists. Let's be honest, they had it comming after all the times they put pressure on/hassled Korra when she was trying her best to get things in order. And to be frank, associating the theme of Disgust with the Press.... I can live with that
Fear: The Mercury Poisoning! Not gonna lie, Fear's reaction is pretty much how I react to that scene to this day. A huge thank you/honorable mention to for her input which helped me make the final decision (Zaheer atempting to suffocate her, and her Evil Avatar State were also contenders).
And then there was Joy... what else Hey, my Artwork, my Rules. Β
I apologize if Korra's expression isn't very good, I wanted it to be a blank/neautral look - as she would have when meditating into the Spirit World- which wasn't strongly connected with any of the emotions.
By rights this is traditional art, but i've categorized it otherwise because of the heavy influence some digital effects have on this piece.

I find it interesting that I actually believe that Unalaq would be anger in Korra's mind. After all he is the most traditional villain in the show (In the sense of HAHAHAHAHAHA I'M EVIL. I mean he merged with an evil entity that screamed evil. It was literally an evil kite.). He is part of the reason that Korra's father was exiled, and the Southern Water Tribe Civil War. Add on the fact that he betrayed Korra and her family (including the Krew) and we all know how much Korra values her family, I would think she associates him with hate the most. Just my opinion, and I certainly have no complaints about it being Zaheer despite my own thoughts on Zaheer and Korra's relationship.Β
Beyond that I love that Joy was Asami, (Though Naga would have been an acceptable alternative with the Krew being an okay third choice.) Sadness was obvious, so I'm not even going to go into anything besides saying you picked the perfect picture to encompass the sadness. Disgust could have been a number of things, and your choice, especially with the explanation, made perfect sense.
Lastly for Fear, I feel as if one scene that you may have forgotten about was Korra losing her bending to Amon. The mercury poisoning would be third on my list behind Amon removing her bending, and the Evil Avatar State. The Evil Avatar State made her go out and seek Zaheer, someone who she feared and hated.
All in all, (despite my own feelings) however, your choices very much encompass the feelings. After all, what I said above is very much academic and theoretical in terms of what I feel would be the first things Korra would associate with those five feelings, what you chose all fit under the five emotions (and are highly ranked in my list of Korra Anger/Fear/Joy/Disgust/Sadness), and it is extremely well done.Β
And that is all I have to say about that.

Wow. That's a very in-depth comment. Thanks for faving this and my 'Throne Effect' series.
While I do agree with you that Unalaq has given Korra many, MANY, reasons to get angry, I personally felt she showed far greater rage towards Zaheer (especially in the series 3 finale). Thinking that he'd killed Tonraq, she actually swore to murder him and the rest of the Red Lotus, and was determined to end him despite the poison taking its toll. That's why he was the first choice for me.
Someone else said the same thing about Amon (you can find his comment lower down). Though I do regret that I didn't think of him as a choice at the time I was putting this art together, it's too late for me to make any alterations now.

I absolutely loved that film too, and since I'm on a bit of a LoK binge right now, the idea just came out of nowhere (there's a train of thought joke in there somewhere

Amon would have worked well for Fear. She was more terrified of him than any of the other villains.
And of course who represents Joy is the best possible choice.
There are a number of things that could have represented Disgust, but the press is the only one she didn't get over by the end. Prince Wu would have been a good second.

Β AMON?! Why didn't I think of that?! That would've been an excellent other option. Unfortunately, the Artwork's done now, so it's probably too late for a re-vote.
