Time for a couple of pages of flashbacks! We get a brief glimpse of Matilda when she was younger in the monster world! Just a glimpse though, I don't think their world is much different than ours except it looks like its built into caves with civilized accents.We also see Gordon, but only a flashback version of him for now...

That either means that monsters age and mature much slower than humans, or time passes a little different in the monster world.

I think it just has to do with the ambiance. Monsters like it, despite the possible impracticableness. Its a matter of taste I suppose.

I think he is a big part of it. But yeah 80 years, monsters age a lot different than humans. In human years Matilda is around 80 but I think in human years it translates to about 30 or so.

Not sure what age would be appropriate for a spoiled 'teenager' monster, but that's how she acts, it seems.
