Sorry if I'm not good at explaining things but here is what you do:
So lets say you have a back and white picture and you want to change the black into a grey color. What you do is click on the earsser tool.
Then once you do, in those small blocks of color, make the first box black (the color you want to get rid of)
and then the second box grey (the color that will fill in as the black)
After that, you hold down the right button on your mouse/tablet and drag it over the black. It should turn into grey ^^
This just works on any version mspaint though. I hope I actually made sence XD
