Damn, that gaze... You've captured that 'whispersmith' mystique without any flashy-glowing-magic effects, just a Look. A look that says 'I've got you'.

Chilling stuff - more please!

thanks so much! I try to go for the "less is more" approach to a lot of the stuff i do. Not sure why, just appeals to me. Thanks again!

Whoa! I don't know who this is, but you drew him uber awesome. Is he a renegade musician/assassin or something?

Heh- nope. So ok, here's the story of him (SPOILERS if you haven't read Iron Council and want to)

So Drognan is basically this wandering cowboy type that helps the protagonists of the story get to where they're going. He has a talent to project his voice into someone's ear and hypnotize them (sorta) into doing what he wants. He's a "whispersmith". Aside from being one of the cooler names I've heard ever, it's cooler because Drognan turned it into something usable in battle. Other whispersmith's can't hypnotize people, the craft is considered more of a party trick.

I've drawn a lot from Mieville's Bas Lag novels. If you haven't read them, I can't recommend them highly enough. There are three: Perdido Street Station, the Scar and Iron Council. I would recommend reading them in that order, or at least read Perdido first. It explains a lot of the lore and world setting.

I have not read Iron Council, but that sounds pretty badass. "Whispersmith"... I love that! Hmmmmmm, I'm very curious now. Can I get these at a bookstore or read them online somewhere?

I'm sure Barnes and Nobles will have it or Amazon.com if you can't find it there. I would start with Perdido Street Station first. It goes Perdido Street Station, the Scar and Iron Council, but definitely read Perdido first.

That has to be one of my favorite books. You've certainly done the character justice.

Thank you so much While reading it I always imagined him of in the distance or clouded in some way. Sort of his "thing". I liked IC and it's "western" feel. Well, western but Bas Lag style

The Bas-Lag trilogy desperately needs to be made into a series of films, or at the very least, a few Sci-Fi Channel miniseries.

Oh my god yes. I would vote films. I haven't seen a lot of syfy movies but I hear they're hit and miss. I love the books too much to see them fail
