I think Gideon kind of pictures the average Christian when they first start out in their new-born Christian faith: not sure of themselves. Especially if you don't come from a Christian home. There are so many Christians wandering around alone who don't come from Christian homes and don't know where to go or what to do. I was that way for two years, and still a bit like that after 37 years. I've grown a lot since then, but there are times.....!

i agree we all start out like gideon did and that is why this is such a great example of how we as christians should grow and trust in God because ultimately he has control not us
