Queen's Gate Alice is an interesting character. Given the number of videos, images and web sites dedicated to her she's also highly popular. She has her own collector's plastic figurine and her MMD model by Kakomiki is probably an all time favorite.

However, she is usually portrayed character-wise as a gun-blade wielding, kick ass air-head who has a propensity to lose items of her clothing, which scantily-clad as she is already, usually ends up with her almost naked in a lot of works (including some of my own).

But real women aren't like that are they?

Which is why, although I've had her featured in quite a few of my videos, I've never made one of her in a gratuitous manner. My thinking is she's got to be more than just a sex toy. Japanese anime females do have well fleshed out female characters, but many like Alice are stuck in a category that can best be described as pandering to the most basic inclinations of the male ego.

Queen's Blade is a franchise that honestly, I cannot stomach, but I can certainly understand the reasons for its success. Attractive buxom females, scantily-clad, prone to losing their clothing and armed with all sorts of deadly and fantastic weapons is bound to be a successful formula especially in certain parts of Japanese society (and its equivalent elsewhere in the world).

Series like these gives a very unrealistic portray of real women, and girls for that matter. There's nothing wrong with girls being sexy, but there is a difference when for all intents and purposes, they are portrayed as merely sex objects.

Which is why I make a point to use Alice in my videos doing dances other than ones that involve a stripper pole or focusing on excessive suggestive movements. She can still be 'sexy', but I want viewers to see that there's more to her than that, just like with real women, she's a complex 'persona' with multiple aspects.
