Description
I was thinking of calling this image "The dance of the water nymph", but somehow that just doesn't work with Kanon, so "Splish-Splash" is what it will remain. Some really wonderful effects and models available these days for MMD; it certainly wasn't anything like this 10 years ago. Does anyone even use the default models anymore? Oh yeah, ejima8 still uses the Animasa version of Neru every now and then. Then again, it is an edited version usually.

I use the Neru model recently made by Masishi.
I like it because it's anime-like.
People still use the Animasa model.
She will be the first in the world for a 3DCG model that has been loved for over a decade.

Yeah, back in the old days, we did everything with the Animasa and Nakao models; but these really are getting dated now and there are so many lovely modern models available nowadays. Still you are right, the Animasa style has been around for a decade and people will still use them for years to come. They are relatively simple and robust; plus excellent models for beginners.

That water effect is tricky to use with Raycast Shader.

Actually, I didn't run into any issues using it.

It works well in well lit settings, but in dark settings it looks a little strange.

Will have to try a dark setting to see what the issues might be but I think you are correct in your assessment since we are basically talking about two separate systems with differing criteria; trying to harmonize the differences could indeed be a real challenge.
