When Silver Spoon dropped out of college, it was a huge blow for the household. For fear of disappointing her family, Silver Spoon took just enough money to buy a house and support herself for a few years. She wasn't used to living a non-privileged life, and was forced to take up a fry cooking job to support herself. She refused to tell Diamond Tiara that she had the job, not wanting to embarrass her or her family. She was only able to get her college life back when Diamond Tiara offered to pay for her tuition since she missed going to class with her.
Silver Spoon often tells Golden Spatula the story of what her life was like when she lived like an average pony, and Goldie never wanted to live like that. It only made sense that she detested it, because she was born into the immense wealth both Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara possessed when they married. Of course, that didn't last forever, as Goldie became interested in cooking when she finished high school. Her first degree being a baking degree sealed her fate; after she graduated college, she volunteered at a small cafe where a stand-in fry cook was needed, and when she received her first tip, she also received her cutie mark.
Despite the embarrassment of her talent, due to her rich pony status, she wears her cutie mark proudly. Even if Diamond Tiara is displeased, Silver Spoon couldn't be any more proud knowing that, in a way, her daughter was living her young adult life better than she did when she was a dropout. Nothing makes her happier than knowing her daughter wasn't forced into her job, and it was actually her destiny. Her happiness will always be Silver Spoon's top priority, and she hopes she's happy doing what she was destined to. Maybe after listening to Silver Spoon's stories and hearing her struggles, Golden Spatula wanted to impress Silver Spoon, and make her happy too.
