Description Chapter 2: First contact

I can’t shake the feeling I had when that monster arrived. The fear of such a thing even existing shake me to my cord. It’s been an hour since the attack but yet I’m still terrified. And all I need to do is look at my injuries to remind me of its existence, of its presence. But why did it come here? It wanted some information but not information that I would know. It wanted something that I didn’t know even existed. But why? What could this bank hold that I do not know? And more importantly, what could the creature meant when he said my father was one of them? Did he do have something to do with this?

“Victor, how are you holding up?” Ask John has he enter the room with two police officer. I recognize one of them being the chief of police Leonard and other one the same female Swat officer from before.

“I don’t know. Still shaking from it.” I respond to them. The officer walks around the room for a bit uncomfortable.

“Yes, I was told. But can you have to tell me everything that happened.” Said Leonard has he takes a seat.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I said so.”

“Mr. Victor, we are going to need you cooperation if we are to capture those robbers.” Said the chief trying to bring confidence in me.

“It wasn’t human.” They all take a break to comprehend what I had said.

“What you mean it wasn’t human?” Ask John a bit confuse standing behind Leonard.

“He means that it shouldn’t even existed.” Continue the Swat officer. “I saw it with my own eyes Chief.” The chief stumbles around for a bit until he stops and sits down on a chair.

“Not human? Are you sure? Maybe he was just wearing a costume like the other heisters.” Continue the chief trying to bring logic in this illogical situation.

“It had powers Leonard.” I said losing a bit of my speech.

“Powers?” Ask John still confuse.

“Telekinesis, or whatever its call. It was has if thousands of invisable hands hold my body stiff and force me to do his every will.” Everyone looks at me terrified. Either arguing themselves if I’ve lost it or if such a creature should even exist.

“And what did it do with, those powers.” Said John becoming more uncomfortable.

“It wanted a gem, not sure what gem. When I told him I didn’t know what he was talking about, he force me to search my database. He wanted a file call Pokéuman.”

“Pokéuman?” Started John. “I didn’t even knew there’s was a file called that.”

“Well you better believe it since I found it. And that’s not the worse part. I can’t open it.”

“What? Not even the master key works on it?” Yelled John almost furious. “There’s no way your master key can’t open it. It made to open anything from our computer database.”

“Well I can’t open it.” We take a moment to breath. All of this is a lot to take.

“So we have what the… creature wanted but we still don’t know what it is.” Said the chief still sitting down. “Then what are we supposed to do now? You can’t even help us even if you wanted to Victor.”

“Well I think there’s a way. Maybe my father knows how?” I respond to the chief.

“You’re father? How would he know?” Continue John

“The creature told me that my father was one of them, and that I was not.” I said quickly remembering the image of the monster saying that. Its face coming closer and saying with such pride, has if it was a blessing to be ‘one of them’.” I said still remembering the way he said one of us.

“One of them?” Said John. “What the hell does that mean?”

“I don’t know but my father must have an answer to this.” I said right after his question.

“Sorry to disappoint you Victor.” Yelled Leonard standing up. “You’re father been dead for eight years now. How could you possibly ask him?”

“I know I know. But that’s all I have to go with. Maybe if I ask Ronald about it, he’s been working for my father from before I was born, he must know something.”

“I’m not sure about that Victor, maybe that’s what Ronald been trying to hind from us all along.” Said John opening up that wound again.

“Oh would you stop already. Why would my own father hind something like this to me.” John just looks at me disappointed. Why can’t he just trust people?

“Mr. Gottschalk?” Started the officer ending our dispute. I take a second to realise that she use my last name. I never get called by my last name. “Didn’t Leonard said that your father died?”

“My biological father, yes. My real father, no.”

“That doesn’t make any sense. How could you have two different fathers like that?”

“Let me explain to you Ms…” Damn it, I’ve never ask her name.

“Call me Emily.”

“Well Emily, my biological father never seemed to trust me, or even like me for that matter. He didn’t care about my accomplishment or even my existence. All he ever cared for was his bank and his successor; my dimwit brother.”

“That’s seems a bit exaggerated Victor.”

“You don’t have to believe me Emily, but know that he was never a true father to me. Ronald, his head of security, was a better father then him. Do you know it feels to have your father’s head of security practically raise you instead of your real father? Ronald was there every single birthday for me, he was there’s at my graduation, he was there when I moved out and I need a place to stay. He fed me and give me a home when my father couldn’t even give me a cent.” The atmospheres of the room comes to a dead quite. But I wasn’t done.

“And the worse part of it all is that my brother got everything. My brother that never work a day in his life got the money, the bank and even that beautiful ring. Oh man, my father’s ring was the most beautiful ring I have ever seen in my life. A silver coated ring with an emerald on the top. I can’t even describe the ring Emily. It was a pure masterpiece of a ring. A ring that was passed down generation after generation to the next owner for the bank. Ever since my great-grandfather, Greg the I moved to America from Germany and founded the bank, the owner would be pass down the family and the ring with it. But even if I’m owner now, that ring is still in Greg’s hand. Not me who’s been repairing the mistakes my brother did to this place after our father’s death and brought the bank to its former glory but the man that doesn’t even know the difference between a credit and a debit.” Everyone stays in a keep silence after mine rage, which seems to have taking me out of my shock. Not a single person says anything for a good moment.

“Forgive Victor, he gets very emotional when it comes to his family relations.” Said John breaking the silence one more time.

“Now that you’re done telling Ms. Riverwood your little story.” Started Leonard. “We will need to find whatever information we can find on that file, and it looks likes Ronald is the only one that can help us with that.” John turns his head around disappointed.

“Alright, let’s go then.” I rise from my chair but get interrupted with my phone ringing. Wonder who it could be?

“Hello?” I said answering the phone and sitting down again.

“Mr. Victor.” I hear form the other hand being Samantha. Why is she still here? I know she’s my secretary and all but I doubt that many people stayed here after the heist. Especially if this has become a crime scene. “I have Mr. Gottschalk, your brother at the front door demanding your presence.” Oh, my brother is here, perfect.

“Tell him I’ll be there to kick him out.” I hung up the phone and finally get up from my chair.

“Well that’s one way to end a conversation.” Stated John a bit shock.

“Looks like my brother is here now.” I answer him.

“Really, that seems odd.” Continued John has he get up himself.

“Well I really couldn’t care less, I’ll just get rid of him before he becomes a problem.” I leave my office and head for lobby. Noticing quickly that my employees have mostly left the bank and replace by cops paroling the area. Other than a handful of friendly faces, I cannot recognize anyone. It feels almost alien to be here when I don’t even know the people walking past me.

Has I enter the lobby I immediately notice my brother Greg trying to seduce my secretory. Honestly, did he not change in the past six years? Does he always need to try to get inside their pants of someone when they happened to be the opposite gender? Quickly walking to him, he turns to me with a please smile and warm eyes; something unusual for him.

“So wouldn’t it be Victor, how you been?” Greet Greg with open arms.

“What are you doing here?” I said to him not sounding pleased.

“What, a brother can come and visit anymore?”

“Last time we saw each other you told me that you never wanted to see me again, which was six years ago.”

“Well the lawsuit was pretty stressful and I may have blown up on you but that all in the past.”

“Lawsuit?” Ask Emily still confuse.

“Ah yes, Victor here suit everything out of me after getting this bank. Can’t say I was too happy about that.” He says with a corky simple, trying to tic me off.

“Only half of it, I wanted my own share of father’s wealth after his death.” I said to him getting more aggravated.

“Has I said, it’s in the past. But now I want to talk to you for a bit.”

“Your timing couldn’t be worse. I got enough to worry about.”

“Yes, I know. That’s why I’m here.” What could he possibly be talking about? There is no way he is intelligence enough to be part of that heist.

“What do you want then?”

“Remember dad’s prize jewel. An aqua blue looking one.” My brother says a bit more serious, maybe for a first time in his life.

“Father had a lot of gems, why you’re asking now?”
“I need it.”

“Do I look like a charity to you?” He gives me this snare of total desperation.
“You don’t understand, that’s all they want. Just give it to me and they will stop coming for you.” They, who’s they? Is he talking about Hypno then? Does that mean that my idiotic brother knows about this?

“You’re one of them aren’t you?” I said at loud in my most angered voice. My brother immediately backs away afraid from my words.  Fortunately

“No, not you too.” He starts to make his way outside. I leap on him like a mad man and pin him on the ground. All he can do now is straggle, now is my time for him to answer me.
“No, I beg of you. I don’t know anything. Don’t bring to the pokéxinction.”

“What the hell are the pokéxinction? What do you know what that gem?”

“You mean you don’t know?”

“Answer me you useless piece of shit.” Noticing that both John and Emily are pulling me I notice a silver ring on his figure. The same ring that my father use to ware. The same ring that I could never get through the lawsuit and the same ring that started my entire ring collection. Just thinking about it makes me want to ripe the ring out of his finger. Why does he deserve that ring? I work hard to get here, I work hard to get what I wanted while he got everything by doing nothing.

And without thinking twice, I violently grab his hand has I am being pulled back and retrieve the ring. The force in which I use to hold on my brother disappears and cause me to crash backwards into John and Emily.

“No, you fool.” He screamed at me has he remains on the ground. Rapidly, his skin change to a purple color. He shrinks into a smaller form, no more than one foot. His hands fused together and creating three claws. Clear rubies crystals replace his eyes. Ears shifted to the top of his head and became somewhat spikes. A red ruby in the middle of his chest appears and a million little sharp teethes are shown from his jaw. Before we knew it there was a small crystal eye monster right in front of our eyes. Everyone in the room take their attention to the creature and start to either panic or watch the freak show.
“You idiot!” Yelled the creature. My own brother being a monster like the one from before. I can hardly believe it.

“The hell is going on here!” Scream John scared out of his mind pushing me away. Everyone is either scream out of panic or holding their guns at the creature.

“Give it back before they get here.” Continue the purple monster.

“Who are they?” Ask Leonard still pointing his gun.

“Pokéxinction, the bad guys. Hurry, I don’t have much time left.” Has he says that, some people form the crowned started to make their way to us, but in a zombie like motion saying “you’re one of them.” Other of the crowed try to stop them but most was getting closer to us. We are quickly getting surrounded.

My brother staring to panic, quickly jumps on me and fights me for the ring. I try to push him off me even in that smaller form he is somewhat capable to overpower me. His claws quickly make their way to my skin. But from a gunshot, my creature-brother falls on the ground lifeless. Turning around, I notice Leonard took the shot form his smoking pistol.

“I don’t even.” He says still holding his gun upwards. Emily lower his gun and gently grabs him has a way to consult me. Soon everyone starts to scream at the event that just folded.

“Everyone, I need you to calm down.” Ordered Leonard has he try to bring peace in the room. Now the zombie guys started to regain themselves and look around confuse of what just happened. Whatever just happened, there’s more to it then it seems. All I know is that my brother turn into a monster right in front of me. So would that mean that he was one of them, like Hypno said? And if so, then my father could be a monster without me ever knowing. My entire family was a bunch of monsters and I didn’t even know. Not only was I attack by a monster, but my family is one too. I fell my knees giving up and falling to the ground right in front of my dead brother.

Emily comes and pick me up from the cold floor and drags me to the employee’s corridor.
“Mr. Victor, I know this is hard to comprehend but for now, stay in your office until you feel better. We can control this.” She says in a very calming voice, like a mother would say to her young child.

“Ok.” Is all I could murmured before heading off. All I do is walk slowly has I watch my newly found ring, an item that has lost so much value in so little time.
