Description
I'm really, really sorry about the lack of update, guys. Struggling a lot with the comic lately.I put this panel process rundown together for Draw! recently, though, and even though it's not very exciting, I figured at least it's something I could share in the meantime.
This process has gotten vastly more complicated since I started working on Lackadaisy. Pages used to be almost 100% pencil with just a little sepia tone added digitally. Now, after penciling, a panel often requires hours of additional work. (Put 12 or 15 panels together per page, and it adds up to at least part of the reason I fail so hard at regular updates.)
------------------
Other Lackadaisy stuff is here . Twitter and Facebook announce site updates too.

This just sounds like a lot of work, but don't think we don't appreciate it; yours has long been one of the most beautifully drawn comics on the net. As for updates - you *know* we would like more, but we can understand. When they do come, your updates always make our day a little brighter.
~We love ya Trace, and we hope you never forget it.

This is absolutely, positively inspirational! Thank you so much for letting us see how you work. This sort of process shot means the world to me. I learn a lot from looking at the different stages. I also love seeing where the finished product comes from. <3

The pencil is hand drawn. I feel comfortable with digital painting, but not with digital drawing...I still prefer a pencil and paper for that.

Wow! I always wondered how you made it look so incredibly detailed, especially in varied lighting. Thank you for sharing! And I don't care if the next pages will be months from now, this comic is way too interesting to just stop watching

Bringing validity to Dodge and Burn since...
Seriously I've had people swear up and down "you should never ever ever ever ever use dodge to shade/light!!!!one1oneomg!!"
Obviously, they are wrong. Obviously, they didn't know how to USE it.

I wouldn't condone using it except in a grayscale environment, really because it just results in a simple value change. In the multi-colored universe, though, you would generally want better control over your colors than to let the dodge tool decide for you.
For instance, in grayscale, if I'm painting highlights into hair, there's really only one direction to go - toward white. In color, if I'm painting highlights into hair, I obviously want to go for a brighter value, but the color I select may be have pinks or yellows or blues in it depending on the environmental colors around it - I shouldn't just leave it up to the dodge tool to make the highlight a brighter version of the base value.

I have used it reasonably successfully on color, but you're absolutely right when you start with a grey environment it works best.

The process hurts my mind with it's awesomeness!! D: The amount of effort and time you put into the comic and it's accompanying pieces is truly inspiring (and mind-boggling).
PLEASE just don't hurt yourself. xD Take your time, dude. Updates (even stuff like this) are more fun when they're eagerly anticipated! And they're beautiful~!

This is a really amazing process and shows how much work is put into this comic. I've gotta say, though, as much as I appreciate the work on the lightning, I still find your skill with simple pencils the most impressive.

To be completely honest with you Tracy, i have so much respect for you in what you do. It's amazing when you can sit back and actually see all the work at goes into a single page. The detail especailly is one aspect that has always fasinated me, its simply incredible how much detail you put into your work. Anywhere from the characters expressions to the small aspect (such as the jewelary in the window (seen in this page).
You have an incredible talent, and its so nice to seen that in your works. It's always been an absolute pleasure to read Lackadaisy and comment on your works (even though i havent commented much).
But i will say, i always read your works when you submit them, even if i don't comment. I look foward to more of your works in the future, take care Tracy
Have a wonderful day,
-Jared

Huh, so Mitzi might not have cashed that check... interesting Can't wait for the pages~
