This sprite is of Amtrak most reliable Locomotive made ever since the EMD F40PH. It's there pride and joy. The GE P40/42DC Genesis locomotive.

History: Amtrak's F40PH's were reaching 25 years of age and were do for replacement. During the 1980's Amtrak and GE teamed together to built a new locomotive from the ground up. GE meanwhile built the Dash 8-32BWH's to stand in until the locomotive was ready. On 1993 GE announced the brand new Genesis Locomotive.

The first classification for the locomotive was, AMD-103
A - Amtrak, M - Monocoque (French for "single shell") D - Diesel, rated for 103mph.

GE classified the engine as The Dash 8-40BP
Dash 8 (Locomotive line) 40 - 4000HP, B - B-B track design with P for Passenger.

Everyone better known them as the P40DC

P - Passenger, 40 - 4000hp, DC for Direct Current.

Succeeding the P40 was the P42DC. The Locomotive was based crew suggestions one to improved the Genesis. It was rebuilt with a noise peaces. Removed strobe lights and with 200 more Horsepower witch increased the locomotive speed to 110mph.
