To be absolutely fair, her story was actually rather tragic. I mean think about it. Shes literally trapped in solitude because the gods didnt like something she did. And even if she goes out to try to mingle with anyone, even her own lover, they would be forever locked in stone for all eternity.
Meanwhile, if the statues are still capable of seeing and thinking and such, they all are forced to silently watch as she weeps away her life because of her terrible, terrible curse. Ive always wondered what would happen if they were all suddenly released from their stone bondage, and once more returned to life. Would they still try to slay her? Or would they pity her, and possibly taking the steps to blind themselves in order to bypass her curse?
This right here is actually why shes one of my favorite characters in mythos, and its always nice to see people making her depictions a bit brighter than the harsh reality that she would most certainly live within.

had an idea for a story of a blind man who meets her, gets to know her, falls in love, they brake the curse!
your comments reminded me of it and why i thought it up to begin with!

Well at least she seems to care about her victims, I'll give her points for wanting to keep them alive.

She could apply a little more feng-shui to her room though.

I never thought of it, but Medusa must feel kind of lonely. The poor thing. Makes me think of the one from Little Pet Shop of horrors, that one was so noble.
Great picture by the way. Love everything that's going on. ;D

Ohhh lovely ending piece to that comic page. ^^ I love Gorgons and such. It's why my EDH Deck in MTG is Gorgons, Basilisks and Cockatrices. Transformation themed deck, oh yeah.

I have to say this is somewhat hilarious in a twisted way...

So, what does she do with the clothes that don't get turned to stone? I mean, it's pretty clear that her statues end up nude, but...

Presumably she incorporates what she likes (and fits her) into her wardrobe and disposes of the rest.

Does her power only work on female adventurers, or are those merely the ones with which she decorates?

Well my idea is that this is a world where everyone is female, so thats the only kind of victim possible.Β She could also only find female statues nice for decoration lol, take your pick.

I can't help but notice that ALL of the statues appear to be female. Wonder why that is, in the context of the setting.

Isn't the whole purpose of adventuring to achieve immortality, at least in song and deed if not eventually defeating/replacing a god of some sort? The gorgon here is just cutting out the middleman!
I'm kind of curious if these statues have a spark of life still or if she's talking to bare rock as a sort of ironic gesture.

I'd assume it's the conscious "able to see and think" statues. You know, the horrific horrible fate yet horribly boner inducing kind.

Midnight-Tea In reply to Lxmitauszeichnung [2015-03-27 04:47:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, there is a happy medium of "able to see and think -- as a statue would" state. The sort that doesn't get bored exactly and is in a permanent high from being a perfect being. Β explored this notion with that one Wotch bad end.

Ah, interesting. I suppose that's better than being conscious like a normal human and unable to move for all eternity haha.

I think to such a statue, we're the ones with a hellish existence -- constantly moving to and fro to fulfill needs that never cease.
