Rule of funny. Ranma 1/2 runs on massive quantities of Rule of Funny.
I mean, there's a contract between mother and son/husband that they will commit suicide if she doesn't consider Ranma a "man amongst men". And Genma tortured 6-year-old Ranma to teach him the Cat Fist. And the story plays these elements for laughs!

Nodoka unwittingly provides the answer Nabiki is seeking, as the conditions of the contract state "I will train Ranma, and return with a son who is a Man Amongst Men"Β would also apply to a son-in-law rather than just a son. She goes out to make Ranma comfortable with the liking boys and staying a girl thing and to get him/her and the ideal candidate to fall for each other: Ryoga

Sounds kinda fun! What's the title?
Sort of reminds me of a wonderful fic called "Genma's Daughter". It's an AU tale where Ranma was actually born a girl, but Happosai used his magic, at Genma's drunken and unknowing request, to turn Ranko into a boy. The Jusenkyo curse starts unraveling Happosai's spell, and Ranma, who'se spent 12 years living as a boy, has to deal with the fact that she's actually a girl.
The followup fics "Equal Halves" and "Notes From Julliard" are also fantastic, but Notes was never quite completed. Still worth reading, though!

It's definitely well done. While there are a couple of issues [like ranma's slang, which could be fixed by changing both what he says & how he says it rather than have him speak improper english], the overall plot and the flow of the writing is very good. One of the best parts is how it shows change in the characters that is more of growth than just being OOC [That problem has ruined several stories for me, even if they had pairing i root for]. I also do like that the story takes place over a month [although i have mixed feelings about the individual sections being set to specific days], as it shows any true character growth/change & romance does not happen over night [like a lot of other fanfics like to put it].

Recommendations: I would definitely recommend this to anyone whose favorite pairing is ranma/ryoga.

Ranma and Akane attempt to hold a wedding ceremony, but it gets horribly ruined by, well, EVERYONE. It was a monstrously unsatisfying ending to the series, imo.

The costume and the setting remind me of the arc where Ranma is forced to train in the French Fighting Style of either Eating a lot without being seen or forcing food into your opponents mouth without them noticing....

That's exactly what inspired this pic. The arc with the Chardin School of Marial Arts Fine Dining is one of my favorites in the anime, because Ranma looks so awesome in the big goofy ball gowns they make her wear.
