Makes me think of that game by the Dresden Codak guy where a very Link-like (also rather Kimiko-like) woman saves a prince whom I'd call Zelda-like, except far more useless.
Always thought a game would be interesting where you play as Zelda (/Sheik?) saving Link... only problem is that unlike when Zelda gets herself into a pickle, where of course you go out to save your princess regnant, there's no reason for the princess to put her neck on the line for him other than either him being a prophesied hero (which is exactly what happens off-screen at some point in most of the games that feature her) or her being in love with him, both of which sort of defeat the purpose. Β But still, she's such a badass until suddenly she needs saving, can't there be a game where you play at least part of it (preferably a part that doesn't end with her being captured) as her?

Well Zelda's disguise as Sheik is at least partially magical (as I understand it). So it's possible that she used some of that magic to transform link into a passable double for her.

Hehe, that's part of the idea I told to tran4of3, which inspired this piece. I'm considering commissioning a comic that further fleshes this out, flipping the hero/damsel roles for Zelda and Link.
