My cousin ~OswaldTran , who is the biggest Penguin fan in existence, and myself (as Rorschach, of course) went to Dallas All-Con 2010 this weekend. Three-day conventions are the most exhausting thing on the planet!"Deprived taking over the streets. If anything, they become more depraved. Place like this perpetuates cycle. Turning out criminals hungrier than ever. These streets don't belong to them. Streets belong to city. Streets like this used to be safe. Now scum like this corrupts them. But scum can be cleansed. Seems work never done."
My cousin won second-place in the Supervillain Costume Contest for his Batman Returns-Penguin. The Joker and Harley here won first-place.

(1) Joker has NUMEROUS looks. Yes, he's known for green and yellow vests, but he has been known to wear white. (2) THAT is not Hush; that is Rorschach from WATCHMEN. (3) Penguin is wearing his monocle, it just happens to be behind his glasses here. Penguin can have white gloves, or grey gloves, or leather gloves, or no gloves.
Sometimes, you have budgets and you abide by them. Not all cosplayers can sew, not all cosplayers are rich, not all of us can wear contacts, not all of us can get every, tiny little detail, not all of us can find the exact fabric, not all of LOOK exact to the character, but we do our damnest to try! We're here to have fun, we're here to play our part, we're here because we have a love for the character we portray. We're out there and we know we're not perfect, but we TRY and we TRY and, sometimes, you have to work with what you can. You think we don't KNOW that our vest is white, our mask doesn't move, our monocle doesn't fit, our gloves aren't leather? Of course, we know! We know it because we're "living" these parts, we're out there, we're putting on a show, but in the end...it's not for you we do it for, it's for us! The point is really to get the character ACROSS. Perfection is within ourselves. It takes a certain about of "courage" for us to push ourselves out there, so give us a little credit for putting ourselves out there. We take it all in stride.

Thanks! A group of friends (and my cousin who was the Penguin here) are going as MY LITTLE PONY at Sci Fi Expo in Feburary. For Dallas Comic-Con in May is Bat-villains Saturday and Sunday, the Avengers.
