Description
"Please don't go...""I must go..."
Blame *Lady-Rorschach for this! We're co-writing a REPO! the Genetic Opera crossover, using characters from Human Target television series into the rock-opera universe — two of my favourite things to date that should probably never go together and yet somehow, in a really bizarre way, works:
Taking place after the events of the REPO! film of a post-apocalyptic, dyspotian future where an epidemic of organ failures devastated the planet, the biotechnological mega-corporation called GeneCo emerged out of the tragedy to provide organ transplants to the needy populace on a financial plan, making it affordable to anyone who needed one. The story's heart deals with a brilliant coroner-turned-plague researcher named Juan Guerrero and his wife, Lucreztia "Lucy" Alighieri, who were caught stealing GeneCo-owned organs and supplies to help save their prematurely born year-old son, Juanito. Their employer Rotti Largo threatened to "repossess" their child, as they begged him not to, and Rotti blackmailed them. Guerrero was forced to become one of the Repo Men, assassins dispatched to re-harvest the organs of customers who default on their payments, and Lucy was forced to serve as the Gentern responsible of managing and directing those said organs directly from the Repo Men to be brought back into the populace. They also became privy to the Largo family's many whims. Rotti's eldest child, Luigi, lusted after Lucy and envied her husband; and, in a fit of jealous rage, slashed Guerrero's face, blinding his right eye, in the hopes of have Lucy for himself by "cutting off his nose to spite his face," so to speak.
Six years later, the spoiled children of Rotti Largo — Amber Sweet, Luigi and Pavi Largo — are now the new heads of GeneCo and became living proof that "absolute power corrupts absolutely," taking their sibling rivalry and transforming it into a major power struggle for the company. Juanito, now seven years old and completely sheltered from the outside world, has become sicker than ever and each day becomes more and more grim. When Luigi ordered Guerrero (who has became infamous as the Repo Man known as the "Plague Doctor," due to his long-nosed bird mask used by medieval medics to protect them from the bubonic plague) to repossess the organs of a child the same age as his son, Guerrero refused. This was a breach of contract and GeneCo, by default, can reclaim their son as their property and execute the Repo Man for failure to perform. However, Luigi offers Lucy to spare her family if he claimed "full possession" of her, body and soul, for a year and, at the end of the term, will give her Juanito's "cure." She, to her hate of him, agrees. Luigi parades her around as his lover, to anger Guerrero, and uses her the new prima donna-like Voice of GeneCo, to the anger of his sister Amber, as Luigi begins his plans to dethrone his siblings and take over GeneCo for himself. Secretly, Guerrero and Lucy take a year-long plot of revenge to take down the Largo family (particularly Luigi), destroy GeneCo, cure their son, or die trying...
Guerrero and Lucy's allies are Dr. Winston, a GeneCo SurGen, and Chance, a GenCop-turned-Graverobber. (I believe that Graverobbers are secretly employed by GeneCo to widespread Zydrate addictions throughout the public and, thus, spread surgery addictions.) Their enemy, along with Luigi, is Baptiste who better known as the Repo Man, "Red Death."
(Lucreztia "Lucy" Alighieri and Juanito are original characters *Lady-Rorschach and I created together for our Human Target fiction. We ended up loving the characters so much — and were strangely predicted in the episode "Baptiste" — that we practically add them to everything. I always cast actress Sherilyn Fenn as Lucy.)

REPO!!!!
Know the whole movie backwards, forwards, and even if I had the damn sound muted! Just the best fucking Rock-Opera ever!! ... Ok so it's tIed with Rocky Horror Picture Show for me, but you know what I mean!!! X3
Oh man! If you two decide to write this, I will LOVE you and it forver and ever and EVA!! X3
It's such an original, awesome, totally fits, crossover idea! Would you be having cameo's of Shilo and Nathan and maybe GR himself? THAT would be neat!
Ooo! I do so hope you go through with this, and I wish you luck on it if you do! Great picture BTW! Soo emotional! Kinda reminds me of the scene in Repo at the end where Nathan and Shilo are singing "Didn't Know I Loved You So Much", which ALWAYS makes me pout ans whimper in sadness!
Great, Great, GREAT! Job!

REPO! is definitely one of my favourite rock operas. It's up there with RENT, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Little Shop of Horrors, Hair, Evita, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Shock Treatment. And actually we did write the first chapter and I did a number of REPO!-esque posters to go with it, which you can see in my Human Target gallery folder here: [link]
This story doesn't have Nathan or Shilo because their story is the film. And this actually takes place after the events of the film, so Rotti and Nathan are dead. The Graverobber (who I call Terrance after the actor/lyricist) in the film MIGHT make an appearance, but we're not not sure yet since we have Chance as our Graverobber. (I detail this in the artist's comments, by the way.)

Of course I enjoy it! It has Repo!, which I've been into since I learned about it back in 2007, and Human Target, which you got me fully into after linking me to the episodes!
Ahhh! I haven't seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch or Shock Treatment in forever it seems! Now I wanna watch them again! XD Ooo! I see! I found the first installment of your story... LOVED it! I knew I'd like this crossover! Chance is an interesting Graverobber XD Also, I had seen your RepoTarget posters, and I enjoyed them sooo much!
Ah! So it's an "after-the-original-film" kind of crossover story! I see. That explains why Rotti is dead XP I forgot about that. Terrance or Shilo making an appearance would be interesting. Kind of like Shilo meeting someone who is just as infamouse as her father was, and trying to understand why men like her father or Guerrero have to fall to the kind of life they have. And just having Terrance GR show up would be cool, b/c maybe Chance had a past with GR while he was still a GenCop; like cornering GR and almost killing him, only not b/c GR opened his eyes to what he was doing as a GenCop... Or something like that. Idk. I ramble!
And I did read the artist comment. I guess I was just being like Layla and repeating/pointing out the obvious XP

I'm glad you like this idea. REPO! and Human Targets are worlds apart, but I somehow got them together and I hope it ends up with an interesting story. That's all I really ask for. Yes, it is a "sequel" but few of the characters from the first film return. It's really just the Largo children who have a large role. I'd like Shilo to be mentioned (maybe an appearance) because she is the Rotti's declared heir. She should play a part in the power struggle for GeneCo. An appearance for Terrance is just a maybe for now. I don't want his appearance or Shilo's to be pointless; they need to play a clear part in the story or none at all.

Or since it's repo (Now that I actually read what art piccy this comment was from *Blushes*) you could embellish her looks and make it that her seeming perfection and beauty are just how Nathan Remembers her in his mind and is part of his delusion and madness and she actually had a lot of minor surgery scars along her jawline and around the edges of her face from her high fashion days as Rotti's main squeeze and she was actually not that pretty or perfect. Ooh You could give her a lazy eye! ^__^ I know I would!

It takes place after the film. As far as I know, Shiloh may be mentioned simply over the fact that she didn't accept to be Rotti's heir. It would be a neat idea to have her appear as part of Guerrero and Lucy's plan to destroy GeneCo. Although, honestly, I think Shiloh would think them mad!
According to the film, there's more than one Graverobber, just as their are more than one Repo Man. Don't know if the Graverobber of the film will make an appearance because we have Chance as our own Graverobber! Putting both together would be confusing!
Uploaded the fic. Tell me what you think.

I feel that destroying GeneCo will actually destroy the world. The epidemic hasn't ended. Organs are still failing and GeneCo is the monopoly of all this, pulling all the destroy. When GeneCo is finished, the world is die with it. They may cure their son, but he will life in a world of death. They allowed vengeance to consume them and, in process, would doom their child more than save him. But that's opera, kid! It's tragedy at its best.

Huh, I forget that part. Still, where did all the stab happiness come from? You would have thought that Rotti Largo would have demanded absolute perfection from his kids and be really strict with them.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
tranimation-art In reply to LilyAquarius [2010-04-03 18:05:31 +0000 UTC]
It seems that Rotti Largo had originally nothing, originally a poor man, who got himself up to highest by hard work and evil plotting. He gave his kids everything, everything that he didn't have growing up. The problem with giving them "everything" is that he seems to have given them very little "discipline".
I don't believe he was a strict father at all because he allowed his kids to turn out the way they did. I believe he was a negligent one. He showered them with money, but did not there to tell him what they can or cannot do. Soooo they went wild. Money and power corrupted them.
Rotti realized they were unworthy to carry on in his place as head of GeneCo. In meeting Marni, he planned to have a legacy with her and originally aspired for his and Marni's kids to inherit....that is UNTIL Nathan took her away. Rotti felt that Nathan had the child with Marni that was meant to be properly his own. But there's also MORE than that, I believe. I believe Shilo was everything Rotti wanted as a child -- simple, clever, resourceful, adventurous, loving, humble, and (above all) untainted by wealth and corruption.
You see Nathan as the strict father and Rotti as the liberal father.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LilyAquarius In reply to tranimation-art [2010-04-03 22:41:23 +0000 UTC]
That does make sense. You have to wonder what Marni was like however. I mean, she obviously loved Nathan enough to leave Rotti which in retrospect is something no sane person would do. I think Marni may have been forced into a relationship with Rotti or even threatened. She finally had enough and left him to be with Nathan. Makes me wonder...
Who's Luigi, Pavi and Amber's mom?
Blahh! Stop thinking! I'll start getting ideas again. >_>
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
tranimation-art In reply to LilyAquarius [2010-04-03 23:07:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I don't think any sane person would stay with Rotti... Then again, Nathan has dissociative personality disorder. (shrug) I would hope she had a strong spirit to be around these two individuals and went for Nathan because he did have the sweetest and gentlest heart out of the two.
According to the original musical, Mag's eyes are actually Marni's eyes, which is why, when you see Marni's body in the wall of the house, her eyes are covered.
Who's Luigi, Pavi and Amber's mom? To be honest, I think Rotti married an extremely rich woman, of a "princess"-like position, to really solidify his position in high society, particularly since he's basically the "king" in the REPO! universe. Observing Rotti's kids, I wouldn't be surprised if she was like them -- rich, spoiled, and irresponsible.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LilyAquarius In reply to tranimation-art [2010-04-03 23:17:55 +0000 UTC]
That makes since. But man Nathan went off the deep end hard core when Marni died. No wonder Shiloh was so fed up with him. "I have hated and loved you!" Makes since when you think about all the crazy shit he did. Here's hoping Guerrero learns not to follow Nathans parental decisions.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
tranimation-art In reply to LilyAquarius [2010-04-03 23:41:05 +0000 UTC]
Well, dissociative personality disorder doesn't spring up overnight. I believe that Nathan had problems before he ever met Marni, but they were controllable. With her death, a personality, as defense mechanism, emerged as the strongest, the Repo Man. It seems pretty clear that Nathan and Repo know they're in the same body. Nathan doesn't have the nerve to kill; Repo does and does so to protect Nathan, so it's a really interesting paradox.
Guerrero and Lucy are very genuine in their concern for their son, Juanito. He was born six months premature and has a flurry of health problems (just like his Human Target counterpart), so spent a great deal of his time ill in bed. He does hate his medicine. He thinks their icky tasting, so he hides them when he doesn't want to take them. Bad Juanito!

tranimation-art In reply to LilyAquarius [2010-04-04 09:41:26 +0000 UTC]
I would think Guerrero regrets teaching Juanito slight-of-hand magic now, hahahaha! Or Lucy might give him an "look-what-you-did" look to Guerrero, hahaha, who would just shrug with "I didn't think he'd HIDE his pills!" They probably had give him shots at couple of times to make sure he took his meds. Then again, maybe not... Abri and I have Guerrero and Lucy, during earlier days together, having been drug dabblers and paid the price for them for it -- BIG time, so they're EXCEEDINGLY careful with Juanito's medication.
