Description "You are part of the night, just like me. We're not afraid of the dark — we come alive in it — we're thrilled by it..."

I have severe night terrors and, as a result, I have very few dreams (and nightmares) that I will actually remember when I awake the next day. My dreams always have this strange film-like quality. And I had the weirdest dream last night and woke up on the wrong side of the bed, with a terrible back pain and stomach craps, and yet, like most of my intense dreams, it will nag and eat away at me until I draw them out! The product was Rorschach in Gotham. It's a working title, but it really says it all.

Taking place during the passing of Keene Act to illegalise costumed crime-fighting, Nite Owl II has been missing for three days. The Crimebusters (...uh, Watchmen) have broken up and carried on a lacklustre search for their comrade, so Rorschach takes his own line of investigation to find his only true friend and the clues lead him to Gotham City, perhaps with a little help from a costumed cat burglar. (This is a conceptual plot and it's subject to change.)

For those who don't know, I'm a huge Batman fan and Watchmen fan. I may do a short comic on this, a short story, or a full-on fiction; or it could be a collection of vignettes of him fighting Gotham Rogues' Gallery — or Batman himself. I really haven't decided yet. Nonetheless, I certainly love how this drawing came, so I'm going to fix the proportions (majorly!), draw some word balloons (maybe!), sketch in a background (gasp!), clean it up, and colour it — and we'll see how it goes from there. (I'm trying to do this by incorporating the 90s Batman: The Animated Series "dark noir" style, but I don't think I'm succeeding at all. It still looks too much like my own overtly cartoony style.)

Medium - HB and 2B mechanical pencil.

Baseball season? I have noooo idea.

Occasionally, I like to watch a foreign football game. They're just so passionate that it's hard not to get involved. GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

That is what I ought to do.

Our family friend and a steady customer of Kate and I,
his wife, is French-Canadian/Australian, Suzeanne is a fan of the CFL Toronton Argonauts.
Suze was born in Montreal, QE, CANADA and still has a home in Chatham, ONT., Canada,
Di.

The CFL is actually OLDER than the NFL and it was a Canadian who invented
North American football.

Of course, Suze is also half-Aussie, and loves the soccer team from Sydney, Australia...

Poor, poor Rorshach - hate to see what would happen if he ran into Poison Ivy...

Instead of a short short of just Catwoman, or a full-on mystery, I could just do a collection of vignettes where he versus the Gotham's rogue's gallery. So, actually, I have an idea of two drawings with him battling Poison Ivy if I do the vignettes:

One is where she has the upper hand on him, where he's battling deadly vines around his wrists and ankles, surrounding him, or where he has the upper hand, smashing a bottle of weed killer on fire, slashing and burning, her "babies"....the monster!

Actually, I was thinking more of the mental spasm he might have when he sees her costume (given his own issues)...

I think you'll have to specify a little more for me; I'm a little lost.

Yes, his experiences with women are basically nil, has no social skills and sexually repressed, so I can see his issues of women in general. The closest thing I can think of is, with the red hair, maybe his mother. Ivy is also control freak and, if he kissed him, she could control him, which is something he'd despise! He'd probably have a dysphoric episode.

But just think of the fun!

I'm probably thinking mostly of the cartoon series Ivy.

As was I.

But you'll have to specify what issues you meant he would have with her. I'm trying to figure out what you mean.

I think what they mean is Rorschach seems to be uncomfortable with sctanily clad women in general. But, he obviously got used to Laurie's costume, so he'd probably be fine.
Hm, Rorschach Vs Riddler:
Riddler: Riddle me this, when is a-
Rorschach: *punches in the face* Sorry. Was supposed to wait until finished before punching?

Rorschach doesn't seem to be disturbed by half-naked women at all. He passes prostitutes on the streets offering him "Swedish love" or "French love" with little to no reaction.

What I do see him extremely uncomfortable with is if a woman made serious advances toward him. It's something he hasn't experienced because he grew up in a world without devoid human affection. Interestingly, so did Catwoman. They have similar backgrounds. She was born into a broken family; her father was an abusive drunkard and fiend, and her mother was cold and fridged. When they died, she was thrown into a orphanage, again devoid of affection, and ran away. She survived by being a street thief and, later, a prostitute before evolving into cat burglary. However, he went one way, she went another, and when these two meet, sparks will fly -- if good or bad.

I don't disagree, just trying to help explain what that other person meant.
Yeah, interesting stuff to think about.

Nice. I like how Rorschach is grabbing her wrist. The Rorschach in my head would be squeezing enough to hurt her, but that's just my opinion. Look out, Rorschach! Gotham is filled with sexy women.

That's how I see him doing, too. I meant to make it look like he's grabbing her tight enough to hurt; this reaction is the simper after the original hurt.

If I'm going to put this in comic or fiction term, she'd be just about leave the scene of the crime and Rorschach would snatch her wrist hard super-tight. She would wince in pain at first, but then her expression would recover quickly and change into "Well, well, a handsome face" when she gets a look at him, give him a little flirt before scratching his eyes out.

I'll try to make it look tigher in the clean-up and have her comment on his grip. Something like that.

Does it really? HAHAHAHA! The workings of my mind usually don't make sense.

I haven't decided what do with it yet. It could be a full-on mystery in search of Nite Owl; or just a snippet where he versus Catwoman; or it could be a collection of vignettes where he just meets up and fights Gotham's finest villains.

Aww, Cat Woman! I LOVE her. She was the best female villian of the real Batman movies I think. When she put the bird in her mouth- that was one take- she just did it! LOVE how you portrayed her! Don't know Watchman well but he looks great. Happy Thanksgiving!

Did you have any idea how tempted I was to draw Rorschach flat on his back, with Catwoman stradling him, giving a wet kitty lick? But then you have to ask....why would be flat on his back in the first place? He's probably not the type to allow something like that anyway. Oh, well....I can dream, can't I?

I love that you said "real Batman movies" and I have to agree! I love the Tim Burton films! Returns is a favourite!

You don't know Watchmen?! I totally recommend it! You should definitely read it before the release of the film in March next year!
