Description On his blog, alex ries (aka Albiogenesis) describes an extraterrestrial race he calls the shaan. However, he has yet to portray these "shaan" (or maybe I just can't find them), so I have taken the liberty of drawing my own version...
Albiogenesis mensions the shaan have a large beak-like structure taking up 1/3 of their body length, mandibles within the beak, six legs, a sausage-like tail to store fat, and structures on the head for electroreception.
I have gussed at the rest of the details of shaan anatomy... I was also inspired by a tribute creature by RIRIRV which seemed to be close to shaan descriptions.

I have included shaan in iUniverse for quite a while; now with copyright protection!

"The shaan are a powerful race of iUniverse, dominating a 16 planet empire. They evolved on a planet orbiting a hot blue star, and so are many of the planets they've colonized. They have four breathing oriphices along their sides. Their planet is shrouded in clouds of vapor by the heat of their parent star, and most of the land it covered by dense, choking jungles of black plants. They have tough, leathery skins to protect them from thorns, poisonous fungi, and biting insectoids. The shaan posess a photoreceptor on the foremost pair of legs. They see in shades and blotches of gray and black, as vision is not important to them. Their main sense is electrical. They surround their bodies with a weak electrical field to sense things at close range (electroparalysis). The antenae atop and bellow their heads can transmit and receive electrical signals to sense things far away, and to communicate (electroreception). Within their beaks, shaan posess an aray of grasping, tentacle-like pseudodonts which are in fact individual mouthlets. Each mouthlet is capable of swallowinf small chunks of flesh, which is transported through a system of esophagi to the main esophagus which leads to the stomach. The genitals are located within the beak where one would expect the throat to be. Shaan have a cast system based on sex. The males, or drones, are smaller and are equiped with proportionatly larger beaks. Females, or queens, are larger, longer, and have more powerful electroreceptional broadcasts. Queens lay sack-like eggs which hatch into young drones and are cared for by adult drones. Drones also run businesses, enforce law, attend all the little odd jobs, and preform research and entertainment for their mother queen. The queens hold most, if not all political power in shaan government and also play the role of religious leaders for their children. Queens form alliences and partnerships with other queens to trade drones for sex. Queens may choose when they lay new queens. When a new queen comes of age, she inherets a proportion of drones from her mother and her mother's allies to beget her own horde of drones. The individual pictured above is a drone floutist, preforming for his queen."

Albiogenesis--when and if you see and read this, please tell me how my shaan compare to yours.

You captured his style perfectly! Before I even read the title, I thought, "Huh, reminds me of Abiogenesis' stuff."

my friend, while your technical skills may not yet be superb(although they are far better than those of most people I have come in contact with), your ability to render convincing designs and to bese your designs upon the words of another surpass my own. I am very fond of this concept in particular, and I would like to know exactly what type of object our friend here is weilding.

oh, and I really enjoy the design of the front four limbs!
