Description
Tiberius is the homeworld of the Tiberians, source of the mysterious green crystal known as Tiberium, and the site of two conflicts that would have wiped humanity out several times over. The First Tiberium War, caused by the rise of Nod, a political movement turned revolution bent on domination over all other forms of life, was only stopped by the rest of the population uniting under the banner of GDI, the Galactic Defence Initiative. Nod was driven off, and it seemed that peace had returned.Only 50 Earth years later, Nod would return, as the far stronger Nod Empire, bent on shattering GDI and claiming its homeworld as its own, beginning the Second Tiberium War. Initially, GDI resisted the onslaught upon the planet, but were unable to expunge Nod, allowing them to permanently claim part of the planet. The war ground on for nearly a century before the ceaselessly-warring factions began to deplete the planet's supply of Tiberium, although it was only when Tiberium levels dropped so low that the planet would be incapable of supporting life that the two factions took notice and realised the severity of their situation. As Tiberium fell, GDI and Nod fled to the stars, and their desperate conflict raged on an intergalactic scale for the next century. Worlds were seeded with Tiberium to fuel the ever-depleting war machines of both sides, and entire species were wiped out in the wake of the infectious crystals' spread.
Tiberius is now a dead husk of a world. While minute traces of Tiberium still exist on its surface, it will be hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of years before it can naturally regrow to a state where the world is permanently capable of supporting life. With the constant fighting, neither faction has had the opportunity to explore synthetic methods of restoring the planet. Until one side finally emerges victorious, Tiberius will remain cold and barren. A few scattered groups still squabble over the planet's surface, although this minuscule conflict has no strategic gains for either side and soon even these steadfast groups will be forced to abandon their home.
When that times comes, Tiberius will be left as a cold, barren metallic rock, inhabited only by the trace amounts of Tiberium left unharvested, and the lifeless corpses of those lost to the aeons of conflict...
