I've heard it suggested before too. Something about the swagger he had as Captain Reynolds would really translate well into the characterization of Springer.
On the other hand, they could use that same tactic and make him a very interesting Decepticon. It would fit in with the other two former crew members too, haha

I'm hoping that MECH turns out to be a Prime-verse adaptation of IDW's Machination and sooner or later they'll show up with an army of Headmasters.

hmmm, that would definitely be interesting. IDW and Furman handled probably the weirdest gimmick of the franchise and made it diabolical, it would be cool to see the humans on the show portraying a REAL threat.
