I really like this piece! I really do wish IDW would make more Evolutions pieces, but sadly, nothing new yet that I know of .

Um, I'm commenting again because I wanted to point out that the link to the artist's page doesn't work. You seem to have forgotten the first "o".

Wow. Ya' know this actually makes sense. It fits with the plot of the movie, and if they'd come that long ago, it would've helped them learn about us.

A most powerful piece. The combination of colors and fine attention to details are captivating. Oni indeed.

I like how the human soldiers all have distinctively different facial features.

Art is beautiful. And very "300"ish.

However, the last speech bubble kinda ruins the effect a little...

Amazing.

I'm ponly going to comment on the art, unfortunately, since that's really the only I can crit...

Anyway, great use of hatching! There is a marvelous sense of depth here, and the color added to the lineart's feel/theme. Very nice indeed.

Oh, that is absolutely stunning! The artwork is impeccable! I do wish the story on this would expand, though. Especially for us Transfans who are into history.

Raja-Ulat [2009-01-12 10:45:36 +0000 UTC]

Awesome concept but I feel the reason why it's not as possible as we like it to be is because of energy problems. I mean the last time I checked on energon, it takes a hell lot of power to charge them and unless they have energon crystals around, it just won't be possible to stay sufficiently powered during that era (and earlier).

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Hehe-m In reply to Raja-Ulat [2009-01-12 23:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Didn't Shockwave seed the earth in "energon" in the IDW G1 verse?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raja-Ulat In reply to Hehe-m [2009-01-13 04:15:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm not the most well informed around here so i can be wrong but my question is when did he do it and how long does it take for there to be sufficient energon to power a full-scale war between the two sides.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hehe-m In reply to Raja-Ulat [2009-01-13 05:21:47 +0000 UTC]

(Haha I am not the most informed TF-fan either...) Can't recall when exactly Shockwave seeded earth, but it was after Dinosaurs and before prehistoric humans. Various 'Cons who landed close to present day had enough energon to push for a full out war. See Shockwave spotlight and Infiltration to Devastation.

Slothboy3000 In reply to Raja-Ulat [2009-01-12 11:42:42 +0000 UTC]

Having said that, in the original cartoon they get it from natural resources. Older the times = more resources, right?

Nice art overall.

True it makes me think of the insecticons complaining how they are still hungry even after eating a whole forest for energy.

I'm very proud of Transformers for actually bringing art and literature to comic books.

This is one remarkable Mosaic - to not expand it into a full-length story would be a terrible waste. And that's not just the Bludgeon fan in me talking.

Blackvegetable [2009-01-12 06:43:20 +0000 UTC]

Intriguing! There definately needs to be more of the Evolutions stories, besides the Hearts of Steel, cause this, looks chilling and awe-inspiring!

Tramp-Graphics [2009-01-12 06:37:01 +0000 UTC]

Definitely a great Elseworlds type piece. I love the atmosphere. Very dark. The art really brings out the setting of the Warring States era of Japan. Great job.

TenorSaxLolita [2009-01-12 06:30:49 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, chilling, especially with the colour scheme chosen! I do like the idea of Transformers having awoken in different times/places. Tis a shame it has never been canonly explored anywhere outside of "Hearts of Steel".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Argusshaitan In reply to TenorSaxLolita [2009-01-12 11:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Not true. Masterforce places the pretenders as being responsible for a lot of legends regarding gods and monsters thousands of years in the past.
In that regard it is only fitting that they use pretenders here as well.

TenorSaxLolita In reply to Argusshaitan [2009-01-12 19:12:02 +0000 UTC]

Ah? Really? Oh, man, I really need to get around to checking that series out... Thanks for the correction!

Argusshaitan In reply to TenorSaxLolita [2009-01-13 10:42:49 +0000 UTC]

It's something I actually didn't know untill I watched the series myself. For me it's one of the few redeeming factors of the whole show actually

cnegro4 In reply to Argusshaitan [2009-01-12 13:25:05 +0000 UTC]

There is also the second [link] miniseries by Devil's Due, with time travel involved (the best designs were the 1930s Optimus and Stunticons), and the horrible WW2 TF/G.I.Joe from Dreamwave.
