It was three-quarters past last Tuesday ago when the nasty little gremlin snuck out from under my bed.  He smelled a bit squeemish, and maybe didn’t look as one would hope; but, I liked him all the same.

I had been sitting, well, rather laying there for a little while, mostly making triangles of the stick -on- stars stuck on my ceiling.  And of course, thinking about not thinking.  (As we so often do - or try not to do, rather when on sleep’s cusp)

Anyway, he just kind of snuck out and blinked a few times, standing awkwardly in the middle of my floor.  Eventually we settled down and had a few rounds, for we were both agreeable characters. After they began to take their toll, the timidity surrounding him began to dissolve.  In a sudden burst of courage he told me he was some kind of spokesperson for Love and Life and that he had all the secrets.

Now, on a normal basis this would appeal to me greatly, since you know, it’d be like having one up on the entire world, knowing the shadowy mysteries behind both of these sacred entities.

But as is the case with most good things in this world, I had to hang up on him when he told me it was only three easy payments of 29.95 and curled myself into bed,  resuming my thoughts of non-thoughts.  Poor little guy, I never meant to hurt his feelings, but at this wage I'm making, I can afford to tough it on my own.
