Description Excelsior NX-2000

While the Constitution class is currently Starfleet's pinnacle model, it's age has began to show... thus, prompting the ASDB (Advanced Starship Design Bureau) to move ahead with it's next generation starship class.. Enter the Excelsior....
two times more powerful then the constitution class and (hopefully) three times more faster, thanks to it's experimental K(kaiser)27 UTI transwarp drive, the Excelsior class will soon be pushing the frontier back in the terms of exploration and defense....
Construction of the class leader, NX-2000, has already began at San Francisco Fleet Yards... It is expected to be launched around 2273...

Excelsior NCC-2000
After the Excelsior's "great transwarp failure" in 2274, Starfleet recalled her to the Earth Spacedock for intimidate revisions.. Her transwarp drive was removed and replaced with the new LE(Leading Energies)-72 warp drive... following advancements in the field of positronics, an experimental A.I. unit was fitted on board. The unit designated as "Nemoy" was intended to improve ship-human interactions, thus improving ship operations and efficiency.. Finishing her extensive redesign, the Excelsior was relaunched in 2276 as NCC-2000... Under the command of Captain Hikaru Sulu, she is ushering in a new era for starfleet that will hopefully leave a great mark on time...

Enterprise NCC-1701-B
As with all great things, the time of The Enterprise-A had came to an end... The Enterprise, under the final command of captain James T. Kirk, made her last voyage on stardate 5.8.2281 back to where her legacy was born: Iowa Shipyards on Earth... From there, she was retired into the San Francisco museum of spaceflight, never again to take flight... But that doesn't mean her story is over.............
Under the watchful eye of her previous chief-engineering officer, the newly promoted ASDB chairmen: Montgomery Scott, A new Enterprise has begun to take shape at San Francisco Fleet Yards under the lines of the successful Excelsior class.. NCC-1701-B will hopefully be launched in the late 2290s...

Stardate 7.9.2231
Under the command of captain Dremora Sulu, NCC-1701-B has greatly followed in her predecessor's footsteps... however, with the rise of Romulan powers, and advancements in tactical fields, the Enterprise has been refitted with newer means of offensive capabilities... "Phaser strips"... these strips are designed to more accurately acquire, lock-on, and engage Β targets more quickly then the currently employed phaser turrets... one significant improvement over the turrets is the ability to engage multiple targets with a single strip, where as the turrets are limited to a single target.. mainly due to the fact they they must pass-off to a nearby turret if the target moves beyond the previous turret's range... Starfleet hopes that these new phasers will reinforce the fleet as both a sign of power to the enemy, and a sign of hope for it's ally...

(It's finished!!!)

I must agree, the neck blends in much better to the general design (compared to the clunky look of the main timeline Excel)

Just out of curiousity, have you considered to create a variant with forward facing pylons?

Anyway, if the main timeline Excelsior would have looked like this, it would have been 100% my favourite Starfleet ship, even topping the Galaxy (maybe Β  ).

Man, i'd love to recreate one of these ships for Empyrion, if i had the time.

Um, i'm sorry. Empyrion is a game where you can build ships in a 3d environment (among many other things you can do).
Lots of people have already build Star Trek ships (including myself).

The new neck if you ask me is what the Excelsior needed.
