Description
I know, I know. Kind of a weird one here. Let me explain: A while back, I was reading through a comic book forum that was discussing sidekicks and someone mentioned Wolverine and how he always seems to be teamed up with young girls. Someone referred to them as "the Bubbets"and an image popped into my head of Wolverine as a cheesy lounge singer with all of his old sidekicks as back-up singers. I knew I had to draw it and, at long last, here it is...From left to right there's Wolverine, Armor, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, and X-23.
On a more technical note, one of my major goals with this picture was to make each girl unique. A lot of comic artist fall victim to "same-face" and more or less draw all of their female characters the same way, just with slightly different hair and costumes. I also wanted the characters to be more-or-less identifiable without them putting their powers on display. 90% of the fan art I've ever seen of X-23 has her claws out, even when it's not appropriate to the situation, because otherwise you'd have no idea it was her. Some things are unavoidable, like Rogue's hair and (if you want to be accurate) Kitty's necklace, and I took a little liberty on Jubilee's glasses (I grew up watching the old Fox cartoon - as far as I'm concerned, those glasses are part of her face.), but I'm still pretty happy with how it all came out.
