Always loved the F-90. But big and heavy and no area ruled fuselage so it was not supersonic. It was the jet used in the old DC comic "Black Hawk"

Actually, it was a lousy comic, but when I was seven it was great. I think Blackhawk stopped being published in the late 70s. lIn the 2000's at the Orlando Comics-Con a couple always attended dress as Blackhawks. I was one of the few who knew who they were portraying. Back in the day Aurora made a really bad model of the F-90. In fact all of the AuroraΒ kits were bad, poor detail and all different scales butΒ at least they were cheap - about 25 cents in 1959! Carry-on.

i have a collection of plastic model kits that i had high hopes of building once i retired, but my eyes are shot and i'm generally pretty useless anyway, so i think they're safe in their boxes.Β my favorites are the old aurora, revell and even lindberg kits - some are really awful! - but i wouldn't dare touch them at this point.Β my efforts to build them would destroy any value they might have.

I get your point! Regardless you do great work with your pics! I remember Lindberg! They were REALLY bad. But if you check out some of the models built today the paint is amazing. Gotta be a master with airbrush. Back in the sixties I learned how to do "dry-brushing" and got a lot of OOhs and AAhs from that. Long time past now.Β I think the worst model was Aurora's Mig -19. They had no idea what it looked like so they made the model with a shortbody and a long high "T" tail. Almost laughable.Β

So true! Also the model was simple in the extreme. It had about SIX pieces! Worse was the strange bright green color.Β

I remember this from the book "Our Fighting Jets" back in 1951. When the penetration (escort) fighter concept was abandoned, our heavy bombers had to go it alone.
