******** NOT MY PHOTO *******found an old photo on the internet of a navy patrol boat river (pbr) with an air force hh-43 huskie (pedro). it was probably taken in the late 60s - early 70s and possibly somewhere in southeast asia. a great shot but not in such great shape, so i retouched it to remove the damage, and adjusted the color slightly so you can make out the detail and sea camo on the pedro. here's the original:

Cool! From popular media you'd think Hueys were the only helicopters in the Vietnam theatre. The intermeshing-rotor Kaman HH-43 Huskie shown here was a short hopper from air bases often used in search and rescue operations. I got a ride in a 38th Aero Rescue & Recovery "Pedro" (as many pilots liked to call these little ornery, flying burros) once at Cam Ranh Bay in 1971. Extremely loud in the cabin and very bad on unprotected ears! P.S. This whirlybird hadn't changed much from Kaman's Korean War edition.

I have always loved the Huskie (egg-beater). My earliest memories of aircraft are the HH-43, UH-16 and the C-119.
