BEGINNINGS 1998 - 2000

FIRST AID was the first of the Protectobots to be given the avatar treatment. Though the earliest version has since been lost, two only slightly different versions survive from roughly a week later. The latter of these was actually one of my favourites for quite a stretch of time until I decided he could do with some enlargement. The last of the old do-overs was done as a kind of after-hours project at work, and he benefited from the size increase in a number of ways, but as far as proportions go, I suppose I ended up kind of doing him a disservice along the way.

SECOND WIND 2007 - 2011

I have always been fond of FIRST AID, primarily because of his being the center of attention in the episode THE ULTIMATE WEAPON, in which he was an example of pacifism at any cost. It made sure there was a lot of reference material to capture and that, combined with my ability to care about him, made his fairly anonymous face and head design a pleasure to do and redo. You might even liken him a little to OPTIMUS PRIME, who also is a rare example of a character unable to create facial expressions, but still can engender an emotional response in his audience.
