Love this!
The background color of the water give it a ominous, dark tone. Love the skin work on her. And i love how you give her a key within reach but with the way her hands are tied, and with her sinking to the depths below, it make be a sense of false hope thats drowning along with her.
Interesting choice how bubbles are not blowing from her nose or mouth and having her try to hold her breath as long as she can. The moment she lets out that air, shes a goner. This shows a moment of strength and hope in an already grim situation. But even assuming she makes it out, who knows if sheβs gonna make it to the surface.
My only two very minor criticisms are the angle and her bikini. I know in our comic, chun li had that yellow design on her blue swimsuit. And i was hoping to see that. But i guess it was the commissionerβs choice.
Second is the angle. I wouldβve preferred a top angle looking down as chun-li is sinking as shes looking up to the camera for help. It gives that sense of danger and helplessness when you see it from a top angle. This angle feels like you are sinking along with her. And while its a great shot, depending what story you wanted to tell, changing the angle would add a lot to it.
Another great work sergio. I love seeing you continue to draw my favorite street fighter character, even if itβs outside our comic. You did a fantastic job. And i know the person you did this for must be very satisfied. Youβre a great artist. Keep up the good work.
