It's a type of etching, in which you can make larger areas darker, instead of simply doing it with lines. (:

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that it's working as it should . I'm sorry to say that the sense of depth in the original is still slightly better than in the scan, here the area of completely white snow is bigger than in the original, where the gradient towards darker starts sooner.
