The one that most people refer to the Red Ring of Death is the one with 3 quadrants lit up, indicating hardware failure
There's not much we can do about it (at home) without cracking open the xbox and voiding the warranty, so most people get really pissed about it

They go into Standby mode if they are currently charging a controller, double pressing the power button bypasses this and forces it to turn off!
The annoying thing about standby mode... is its just as noisy as the console being on!! X3
