Description Cryptoclidus eurymerus
Named by Harry Seeley, 1892
Diet: Carnivore (Prey included fish, ammonites, and belemnites)
Type: Cryptoclidid plesiosaur
Size: 9.8-13 feet (3-4 meters) long and 8 tons
Region: Europe (England, Northern France and Russia) and South America
Age: Middle Jurassic (166 to 163.5 million BC; Callovian)
Enemies: Liopleurodon
Episode: Cruel SeaΒ
Info: This mid-sized plesiosaur swims through the ancient Tethys Sea, using its four paddle-like limbs to either "fly" through the water like modern penguins, or move upward on two flippers and gliding back down on the other two. Its head was rather flattened, broad, and light, with eyes facing upwards, a mouth full of hundreds of fine sharp teeth that were ideal for catching fish and belemnites, and nostrils ideal for smells and chemical traces.

11/18/2016: Updated with a tail fluke
