Description Tanystropheus longobardicus
Named by Christian Erich Hermann Von Meyer, 1852
Diet: Carnivore/Piscivore
Type: Prolacertiformes archosauromorph
Size: 20 feet (6 meters) long and 300 lb
Region: Europe (Switzerland and Italy) and Asia (China)
Age: Mid Triassic (242 to 235 million BC; Ladinian)
Enemies: Ticinosuchus, a 10-foot (3-meter) pseudosuchian archosaur
Episode: Sea Monsters- Dangerous Seas (6th Most Dangerous Seas)
Info: One of the strangest animals of the Mid Triassic period, the 20-foot (6-meter) Tanystropheus had a 10-foot (3-meter) long neck as long as the rest of its body and a small, narrow-snouted head with a mouth full of sharp, interlocking teeth ideal for catching fish. In 2006, a specimen of Tanystropheus was found in Switzerland with preserved skin impressions of semi-rectangular, non-overlapping patterns of scales and indications of bulky muscles at the base of the tail, which shifted the animal's center of gravity backwards for stability as its neck swung from side-to-side.

Note: Originally it was based on the skeletal works by David Peters, but after BaryMiner  and acepredator  told me that David Peter's was inaccurate, I decided to re-do and based it on palaeos.com/vertebrates/archos…

Yeah I'm also gonna do creatures from Sea Monsters, but only those from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous.

A tanystropheus growing it's tail back it doesn't matter weather it can or not but it's impossible to find a fossil of growing tail back and besides it's just a theory and a theory is just like a game you win some you lose some, some theories came true some theories get denied.

It would be really awesome if you did WWB, WWM, the non Mesazoic creatures from Sea Monsters, etc.

wait.....reptile evolution? pterosaur heresies? It is important to know that David Peters, the man running those sites, is well known for faking fossils. These sources aren't very trustworthy

How come?

He likes to Photoshop fossils to support his outlandish theories and makes up the stupidest conclusions

Ok!!!!!!

So should I fix the Tanystropheus below?

Ok  so what is the best source to find an actual Tanystropheus?

The one above yeah!

But its unlikely that it sheds its tail and regrows, 'cause there's no evidence of it and also its a primitive archosaurimorph!

How many Triassic creatures you have left?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TrefRex In reply to ninjakingofhearts [2015-09-02 00:31:05 +0000 UTC]

Herrerasaurus
Coelophysis
Plateosaurus
Liliensternus
Peteinosaurus
Postosuchus
Parasuchus
Cymbospondylus
Nothosaurus

There's also some creatures that were included as background creatures in the Sea Monsters book, but didn't appear in the series: Mastodonsaurus, Neuticosaurus, and placodonts

acepredator [2015-09-01 21:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Those two sources are VERY untrustworthy.

Also, to be accurate, the predator biting the tail would have to be Thalattoarchon, as Cymbospondylus was an obligate piscivore.
