Just so you know, I no longer like this picture, but I'm uploading it anyway, just so you all know that, no matter what people say, all artists can feel really bad about their own works. It's soft because it's a memory and the horse looks like a giant dog with a donkey face.

I started this drawing a couple of months ago with the idea of depicting the scene mere moments before young Alekz, Jonathan's son, dies in an accident. I'm not saying how Alekz dies. The few of you who know of Jonathan Enos [known in The Paladins as just Enos] may or may not have known he had a son, but now you do. Okay I'm gonna stop now.

A few people helped me here and there. You know who you are, you raggamuffins. TAFE is stressful :3

Edit: Switched it back more like the original painting, just 'cos...

you people and correcting my spelling, sheesh! its an idiot that can not think up at least two different ways to spell a word....

i love your art work by the way ^^

Thank you :3 Shinny doesn't work as shiny because a vowel following by a consonant or double consonant (with another open open-mouth-vowel after) gives the vowel a short pronunciation, as opposed to a long and open one. Compare "fine" with "fin" or "finn".

But hey, making up words is equally fun! XD Aint that intellectualisiarily splendiferous?

Actually, I really like the horse. I think the scene is also really sweet, and I can see that some feeling went into this...

I think that the areas that could be improved are the positions of the people (make them a bit more fluid, less statuesque) and the expressions on their faces (they could use a bit more emotion).

I really like your background though. It's really well done.~

I think the whole thing could be improved, but I lost the feel for the image a while ago. I might reattempt it at a later date. Thanks ;D

I don't know what your talking about here? that is a really, and I mean REALLY good horse, I can't draw animals, even if my life depended on it, but then again, I'm no good at drawing, so thats ok... I am good at writing, if you ever need a writer! picture is really good, like the amount of detail, speacially the sky looks really good, and I like the background, the expression aswell, if you ever go like to like a museum or somethin, I'd totally be all over your paintings/drawings

Thanks for the offer, but I write my own stories, but if you really want to write about something to do with my art, there is the role-playing forums I'm not sure if my stuff will ever be in a museum. Thanks for your compliments!

I can understand about not liking something you've done. I do that as well. I sometimes even dread loading up an image, just because I feel it doesn't merit being among my other works of art. But sometimes I do it anyway.

This image is good, but I have seen better from you. I love the overall feel of it, but something is missing. Not sure if it's too soft, or what, but it doesn't grab me like some of your more fantastic works of art. Of course even your worst bit of work is still great to look at!

treijim In reply to TWStatonGallery [2007-12-12 16:55:50 +0000 UTC]

The softness is to hide the fact that the people and background were painted in completely different styles. It stood out to me like a sore thumb. Oh well, I don't care anymore XD Thanks!

I actually don't really care what is the thing the kid is riding on.
It's cyooot...

Paint Shop Pro. Huh.
Everytime any pic seemed beautiful yet made of blurry strokes, it's always the Paint Shop Pro. Very useful in making landscapes, I see, as it's blurriness add the sense of light in it, making the picture really contains the emotion.

However, I think the boy's face is round. That's new.
As I usually see, even boys you drew usually has a much more longer face, or at least oval. But this one is really round. With blond hair and eyes, plus the absent face. Perfect composure for cute boys adored by many otaku.

....That last comment is reaally scary...

A huge percentage of my works are done with Paint Shop Pro -- probably 95% or more. Alekz's face is strange. I don't really like it anymore, but then I already mentioned that didn't I.

Which last comment?

Better :3 I'm not used to trying to draw detail on people who are so proportionately small compared to the entire image, so I added detail that can't be seen anyway :B

. . . Looking like a dog with a donkey head? -whacks- It looks like a HORSE Treijim!! A very GOOD horse! Don't give critique to yourself if it's not true! -flails around- I love the picture and the soft colors!! The background is beautiful too! I like how you added the working man behind them and the mountains look real! You've done a splendid job, as always!

laurabeth [2007-11-30 03:52:14 +0000 UTC]

Well this image reminds me of memories, too :3 Not that I've ever gone horseback riding shirtless or anything~ Even though everything is so soft and beautiful, it still holds an edge of sorrow. I dunno why, though. It might be the blur or just the fact that I'm really weird. Or the fact that you had to share something so very sad. The horse actually reminds me of a mule, not a dog or a donkey

The little man working in the fields is a very, very nice touch. It didn't exactly catch my eye at first but I mean, it's a very subtle way to make something realistic and natural. It gives it a very pleasant, homey feel. Did I tell you I love Akelz's foot? Well I do. His toes are so cute, but I'm not going to kiss them. I really like Enos' shirt, as well, especially the part that is under his belt, just the way the fabric lays on his leg. The ropes are snazzy, they look quite rope-y. And I like the shrub behind the two. And you draw the most beautiful skies D: And the mountains... are amazing.

treijim In reply to laurabeth [2007-12-04 05:13:36 +0000 UTC]

I didn't really share anything sad. Well, I did, but I didn't. I never said how Alekz died, not that it makes it any less sad ._. Yes, mule-dog

I only like the mountains and skies of this XD Everything else can... go away. I shouldn't have painted them in such different styles -- the characters and the background~ Thunks tho

I think the horse looks wonderful. Very nice softening on the whole scene. Does make it seem surreal.

And yes, I get all "warm and fuzzy" too

Even then. One must enjoy every moment in life, no matter how short, no matter how tragic the events that follow. It's obvious that that moment was special to them, even if what follows is too horrible to comprehend.
