For one, my ex-girlfriend used to say I'm just a cartoonist, and that the semi-realistic world of superhero comic art wasn't my forte. Basically, it was her way of saying she was better at it than me. Take that, bitch!

Second, there's a commission artist named David K. Wong I met, and I wanted to see if I could do something on par with his work.
