This one's one of my favorites. The 'Comic Noir' DoomDaze strip. It's the fifth one I actually scripted, but the idea predates DoomDaze completely, DoomDaze has only been around since '04. There's not really much of a punchline to it. It just shows how insane Squeaks really is. Insane, or just stupid. Really stupid. It's something that I don't get to do frequently enough. If there's ever narration in DoomSqueaks, it's by Doomy, not Squeaks. Squeaks narrating a full fledged comic book would be completely random. He'd just say random, non-sequiter crap for about 32 pages, or 25 before informing the reader he's bored and is going to make a run to the cafe. I thought this strip up a couple of years ago, actually. Probably, like, 2002. The setting's inspired mostly of Calvin & Hobbes. Tracer Bullet. There's actually a nod to that, along with Firesign Theater's 'Nick Danger, Third Eye.' If you look at the two papers on Squeaks' desk, the top one is a doodle of a detective and has 'Tracer' written on the top of it, and the paper under that reads 'regnaD kciN.' There's really not a... joke, per se in this, there's no cleaver observation of the world or anything. It's just Squeaks acting totally in-character, but for some reason this one's gotten a lot of laughs from the people I've shown. I can't say I'm too fond of the CGing job I did on this one, it's very rushed, and I detest the third panel.
