Description
Don't think I need to explain what happened when I first posted these pages but since the first book came out on Wednesday I'm finally able to post everything... at least the first 10pgs.This is the 7th page of the first ten page Nightrunner story I illustrated currently in Detective Comics Annual #12

Just thought you would want to know- I think the flow on this page is brilliant. You can see him working up the momentum, jumping, and then time seems to freeze for a moment as he jumps. When the eye finally drifts to his landing, it's quite satisfying. Great job!

Really thanks a lot, for both comments!! So happy to hear that people understand what I was trying to do with these pages, because you described exactly what I was intending with the action. I was trying really hard to get the feeling and emotion of Bilal as he vented his frustrations running across the rooftop's in that sequence, brief though it was. That was something I felt was really lacking in the main story of the issue, the humanity and inner conflict of Nightrunner.
The other major issue with the main story was there was zero sense of place. It was suppose to be set in Paris and if it wasn't for the Eiffiel Tower in in a couple of shots, that story could have taken place anywhere. I did tons of research on the Clichy-sous-Bois, (the French Projects); the building styles and architecture. I wanted it to be almost like a second protagonist, and I really felt it was an integral part of his story, something that I thought the main story completely overlooked.
It feels great knowing there are people out there who appreciate and understand what I was trying to communicate in those pages.
thanks

Not a problem, and thanks for your insights! I'm an an aspiring comic artist, an every little thought from you and others like you means a lot. I've never read Nightrunner, but I think I'll try and find it now. Keep up the good work!
