Beautiful work. Are you working on paper and then reversing stuff on the computer or are you doing this whole thing digitally? You're clearly adding stuff later (zip and stuff), but I keep looking at the pages to try and figure it out (I'm usually really good at pegging it) but I really can't decide. If I HAD to guess I think I'd go with digital. Maybe Manga Studio? Photoshop?

Thanks, yeah I'm pretty much work entirely digitally. I do a rough in pencil, basiclly a layout blocking in figures and some background elements nothing that tight because I find I end up changing things as I finish the page. I scan that then start drawing everything in photoshop on a wacom tablet. The zip I do in photoshop as well, with halftone and splatter brushes. Most of time I use them more as stamps than brushes, trading between the brush and eraser to get the desired effects.

Thanks for the low down. I love the way you 'reverse' draw, using white as lines instead of black. Great effect. You're very effective with your zip stuff as well. And your storytelling, your black placement, and variety of convincing ethnic characters. Is there anything left?

You seem ripe for a cintiq. I've got one and I can't tell you what a difference it makes when drawing digitally. As I'm sure you know, it's tough sometimes throwing the line you want with a tablet, especially when it's against your natural pull.

I tend to do most of my inks old school. I do all my prep work in photoshop, then print blue line and ink, or tighten up the 'pencils' then ink. Exactly the opposite of you, hahaha. Sometimes, though, I'll switch to the cintiq just for the change of pace. I've gotten to the point where my digital work and my traditional work look just about the same.

You might try Manga Studio as well. I'm a die hard photoshopper but I've been playing with MS recently and I have to admit, it's got some great features. Panel borders, speed lines, stuff like that. You can do that stuff in minutes with MS. It's got some great inking tools as well. Food for thought.

Keep up the great work, man.

Thanks a lot, I checked out your page and your stuff looks mighty strong as well, really, really great stuff. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy of Manga studio, see what the hypes all about.

I know I need a cintiq, working on getting that ironed out. Would love to start using that soon, but of course those don't run cheap.

I do love hearing about other people's work process, it's really interesting how even though we're all essentially getting the work to the same point we take different ways of getting there, I love that.

Great stuff man!

Thanks. I love hearing about people's process too. I never get tired of it, so thanks for sharing. I'm going to try and get to the comic store this week and pick up this Batman stuff you've been working on. I don't buy many comics these days but I like to support guys I like.

Cheers.
